{"id":573861,"date":"2025-11-16T09:41:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-16T09:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/573861\/"},"modified":"2025-11-16T09:41:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-16T09:41:14","slug":"full-list-of-tube-stops-soon-getting-lifts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/573861\/","title":{"rendered":"Full List of Tube Stops Soon Getting Lifts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>London\u2019s transport network is always in the process of getting more accessible, from the new walk-through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/the-piccadilly-lines-new-trains-have-been-delayed-062025https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/the-piccadilly-lines-new-trains-have-been-delayed-062025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Piccadilly line trains<\/a> to the increasing number of stations with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/london\/news\/three-more-london-tube-stations-are-going-step-free-022124#:~:text=And%20now%20TfL%20has%20revealed,to%20start%20in%20early%202025.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">step-free access<\/a>.\u00a0Next up in Sadiq Khan\u2019s quest to make half of the London Underground step-free\u00a0by 2030 is a station in north London, which is one of 17 tube stops\u00a0proposed to next\u00a0get accessibility improvements.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Willesden Green on the Jubilee line\u00a0is among those most highly prioritised to get\u00a0step-free access. Prioritisation of stations happens for a number of reasons,\u00a0including assessing\u00a0the benefits to customers, feasibility, how many lifts are actually needed and the depth of each tube station.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So what exactly is step-free access? It\u2019s not as literal as it sounds, and you may have heard the term already in faint mumblings through your headphones while riding the tube. It basically means that, using lifts, ramps and level surfaces, customers can get between the street and platform.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following\u00a0Willesden Green\u00a0station\u2019s shortlisting, Brent Council\u2019s Cabinet Member for Public Realm and Enforcement, Krupa Sheth, said:\u00a0\u2018This is an important moment for older residents, disabled residents, wheelchair users and parents and carers with prams and buggies who will all benefit from a fully accessible station.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The station\u2019s accessibility changes won\u2019t be funded through TfL cash alone, with third-party funding footing part of the bill.
