Prices will stay at \u00a39.90 per item while three-month and annual pre-payment certificates will also be frozen for 2025\/26.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A three-month prescription pre-payment certificate (PPC) will have the same cost as now, at \u00a332.05, while a 12-month one will remain at \u00a3114.50. The cost of the hormone replacement therapy (HRT) certificate is also frozen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Government said the move will save patients about \u00a318 million next year while those already exempt from paying prescriptions will continue to be so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Sir Keir Starmer announced the freeze on a visit to a health centre in Rossendale, Lancashire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He said: \u201cToday we are freezing prescription charges so that means they won\u2019t go over \u00a310 and that is really significant, because very many people have to pay for prescriptions. There\u2019s a sort of cost-of-living crisis that is still very challenging for people, so this is an important measure in that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cIt\u2019s not the only measure of course \u2013 we are taking steps on school uniforms to limit the cost of school uniforms, we\u2019re driving up the minimum wage, we\u2019ve got breakfast clubs coming on stream, that\u2019s something we announced last week, which will save families about \u00a3450.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Each of these, in their incremental way, will ease the pressure that people feel because of the cost-of-living crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Health and Social Care Secretary Wes Streeting said: \u201cThis Government\u2019s plan for change will always put working people first and our moves today to freeze prescription charges will put money back into the pockets of millions of patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Fixing our <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/nhs\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS<\/a> will be a long road \u2013 but by working closer with our pharmacies we\u2019re saving money and shifting care to the community where it\u2019s closer to your home.
