{"id":575207,"date":"2025-11-17T01:19:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T01:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/575207\/"},"modified":"2025-11-17T01:19:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T01:19:11","slug":"premature-birth-can-be-incredibly-lonely-says-princess-beatrice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/575207\/","title":{"rendered":"Premature birth can be incredibly lonely, says Princess Beatrice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">News of the princess&#8217;s second pregnancy was announced by Buckingham Palace in October last year, and she gave birth to her second daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Beatrice, 37, the eldest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York and the King&#8217;s brother, was due to give birth to her daughter in early spring, when, in December, she received medical advice not to travel long distances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">After changing her travel plans from spending the festive period overseas, she joined the royal family at church in Sandringham on Christmas Day with doctors said to have warned her that a premature arrival was a possibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Nothing quite prepares you for the moment when you realise your baby is going to arrive early,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ckgd74zl2xpo\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she wrote in British Vogue in March<\/a>, adding, &#8220;there&#8217;s so little control.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">At the time of her patronage, the princess said she was &#8220;looking forward to supporting Borne and its programme of ground-breaking research&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Last week, Beatrice, visited the charity&#8217;s research laboratories at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London as part of the Every Week Counts campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">According to Borne, 15 million babies arrive too soon each year, with 60,000  &#8211; or 1 in 13 &#8211; born prematurely in the UK every year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The charity says complications from prematurity remain the leading cause of neonatal death and lifelong disability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The princess said there was a &#8220;sense of life changing relief&#8221; knowing Borne was supporting research and asking important questions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She added that she hoped her support of the campaign would &#8220;bring as many people that have had their own stories, to come and share them&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Then maybe we can learn from each other.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">World Prematurity Day is organised but the World Health Organization every year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"News of the princess&#8217;s second pregnancy was announced by Buckingham Palace in October last year, and she gave&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":575208,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[13,12,14],"class_list":{"0":"post-575207","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-headlines","9":"tag-news","10":"tag-top-stories"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115562411622189684","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/575207","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=575207"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/575207\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/575208"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=575207"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=575207"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=575207"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
