Despite only being 26, Beth Duncan, the owner of Liverpool-based fashion brand, Rodondo, is inspired by eras gone by. Seeking to channel the glamour of 1950s Los Angeles and stars of the era such as Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe<\/a>, Beth’s brand was also part inspired by her grandad, who lived in Redondo Beach, California before moving to Liverpool to fly planes during WWII<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the “niche boutiques” of LA, Rodondo sells a handful of figure-hugging mini dresses, in sizes xxs to large which are handmade in batches of around thirty a week in Kirkby<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beth who lives in Walton<\/a> said: “I’d find dresses in LA and bring them here.. My mum loved fashion and she’d keep things for me too – vintage corsets and things like that”.<\/p>\n

Having studied fashion <\/a>at Salford University, Beth worked as a stylist for four years in London with brands including Pretty Little Thing before being inspired to start her own business.<\/p>\n

Beth said: “I felt like there was no in between. It was either Pretty Little Thing or Dolce & Gabanna. There was nothing for girls who didn’t want something that cheap or that dear”.<\/p>\n

Rodondo dresses are on sale for between \u00a3200 and \u00a3255 and Beth says that her designs use high quality fabrics which help give her designs a sculpted look.<\/p>\n

Sustainability is big for Beth too and her clothes are made of Econyl – a more environmentally friendly type of stretchy material similar to nylon.<\/p>\n

“We use the same fabric for the outside and for the lining which keeps the dress tort and neat. It’s what you want to feel on a night out. They fit well on petite sizes without needing to be altered even if you’re a size two.<\/p>\n

“You can dress them up or down. I wanted to make a staple dress. Something that you can put on for a night out and feel amazing when you have nothing to wear”.<\/p>\n

The brand is currently based online but Beth says she hopes to one day open her own boutique. She said: “I’d make it dead exclusive with a bell you can ring. I love the feeling of shopping in person”.<\/p>\n

Beth plans to develop a swimwear line in the future too.<\/p>\n
