The UK is home to many\u00a0\u2013 countless, really \u2013 delightful places to have a drink. From London\u2019s glorious roster of pubs<\/a> and Manchester\u2019s world-leading bars<\/a> to the women shaking up Britain\u2019s craft beer scene<\/a>, whatever your tipple, you\u2019ll find it in Britain.<\/p>\n

British drinkeries nearly always feature in rankings of the planet\u2019s best bars (five featured in 50 Best\u2019s latest list<\/a>), but recently a UK bar went a step further. A website called Top 500 Bars has\u00a0listed\u00a0\u2013 the clue is in the name \u2013 the world\u2019s top 500 places to drink in 2025, and a British establishment was\u00a0top of the list.<\/p>\n

Top 500 Bars apparently reached its conclusion by aggregating data from over 2,000 different sources on the internet, in more than 20 languages. The site says it made the most of \u2018the wisdom of crowds\u2019, combining expert opinions with reviews on social media and search engines.<\/p>\n

Top of the pile was Panda & Sons<\/strong> in Edinburgh. The bar, which was founded in 2013 by award-winning bartender Iain McPherson, is \u2018hidden\u2019 in a Prohibition-style speakeasy on Queen Street. It\u2019s known for its innovation, distilling alcohol on-site and creating a range of cocktails that you\u2019ll genuinely find nowhere else.<\/p>\n

Sure, P&S may have topped a ranking that was compiled through cold, hard numbers, but it\u2019s a worthy winner. Any readers who\u2019s familiar with bar and cocktail awards will no doubt already know the place\u2019s prestige: earlier this year Panda & Sons was awarded \u2018best cocktail menu\u2019 at the 2025 Spirited Awards<\/a> and it was the only non-London British bar in 50 Best\u2019s latest global ranking<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Top 500 Bars describes Panda & Sons as \u2018intimate and cosy\u2019 with a menu that offers \u2018exciting drinks using the latest techniques\u2019. The place is also apparently \u2018all about friendly Scottish service\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n
