Michelle Dewberry has opened up about the “very premature birth” of her son, now aged five.<\/p>\n

The businesswoman and GB News presenter rose to fame after winning the second series of the BBC reality show The Apprentice in 2006.<\/p>\n

Michelle applied for The Apprentice, seeing it as a unique \u201cexperience\u201d rather than simply a job opportunity. She went on to beat 14,000 applicants and became the first female winner.<\/p>\n

Although she briefly worked for Lord Alan Sugar after the series, she left after four months to pursue other ventures.<\/p>\n

One such venture was GB News, which she joined in 2021 to anchor her own prime-time programme, Dewbs & Co.<\/p>\n

This morning, Dewbs posted a photo to Instagram with her son, both dressed in Halloween costumes. The five-year-old\u2019s face was covered with a devil emoji.<\/p>\n

The post read: \u201cToday is World Prematurity Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent 4 weeks in hospital while pregnant, had a very premature birth (31 weeks) and my tiny baby was in NICU for 6 weeks. <\/p>\n

“That period of life was horrendous, and I used to desperately search the internet for hours, looking for positive outcomes from people in the same situation, to give me hope.<\/p>\n

\u201cI swore that if all ended ok for us, I would also try to provide that same hope to other parents in the same situation I was.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo here\u2019s my boy now. Aged 5 (how did that happen?!) he\u2019s started school and is happy, loud, cheeky, very funny, smart and loud (did I already say that one?!). He\u2019s a daydreamer and a firecracker all in one.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Apprentice star continued: \u201cHe\u2019s entirely changed me and my life beyond recognition, and he couldn\u2019t be more loved.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, if you\u2019re in that hospital right now or if you\u2019re in NICU, etc, here\u2019s your sign that for you too, everything can be ok\u2026”<\/p>\n

Fans of the businesswoman and presenter were quick to flood the comments to share their support.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a great mum,\u201d one posted, while another wrote: \u201cBeautiful words, reassurance to others facing this situation. Wonderful broadcaster you are, Michelle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others used the comments to share their own experiences of premature births.<\/p>\n

One fan penned: \u201cBoth my boys were in intensive care from birth \u2013 it\u2019s a surreal time. Felt as though I was removed from the world living in the hospital bubble. Both fit young men now \u2013 enjoy your happy family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added: \u201cAwww how wonderful\u2026 I lost my beautiful daughter and grandson, Henry James, born sleeping four years ago, as baby wanted to come early but sadly for our family it all went horribly wrong\u2026 sending love to everyone xx.\u201d (sic)<\/p>\n

A fifth follower joked: \u201cFantastic story, best wishes to you both. Both of you look great and I hope you had a fantastic time. Now get back to work \u2014 we miss you on Dewbs & Co.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michelle shares her son with her partner, businessman Simon Jordan.<\/p>\n

She has spoken openly about the traumatic experience of having a premature baby in NICU, particularly during the pandemic, and how it has made her more anxious as a mother.<\/p>\n

Preparing to leave the hospital after six weeks in NICU, she posted on Instagram in September 2020 that her son still had \u201csome hurdles to overcome but it is lovely to finally be able to start a \u2018normal\u2019 life with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cUnless you\u2019ve been through PPROM &\/or NICU, it\u2019s hard to truly understand it, but it leaves a mark on your heart & soul, which I suspect will be there forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December 2020, during Prematurity Awareness Month, she described the six weeks her son spent in an incubator as \u201cterrifying and draining\u201d.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her complicated pregnancy, which occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, she described it as a \u201cscary, horrible time\u201d.<\/p>\n

In April 2025, she wrote on X that \u201cPremature babies are miracles.\u201d<\/p>\n
