Some 498 houses and flats are planned for the former Riverpark Trading Estate, with developer Great Places pledging more four in 10 will be available for social rent or via shared ownership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">The housing association says the 277 flats and 221 houses, going <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/manchester-bullring-abattoir-next-co-29701748\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">where the city\u2019s \u2018bullring\u2019 abattoir once stood,<\/a> will help complete the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/eastlands\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Eastlands<\/a> development, kick-started publication=\"men\">Another housing association, Mossacre St Vincent\u2019s (MSV), is behind a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/lost-39-years-site-moss-32376310\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">212-flat proposal<\/a> in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/moss-side\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" homes, with plans to turn the \u2018beating heart\u2019 of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/chorlton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Chorlton<\/a> \u2018inside out\u2019 by demolishing the Chorlton Cross shopping centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" blocks of flats featuring ground-floor shops<\/a>, a new \u2018makers\u2019 yard\u2019, and green spaces meaning shops face the road outward, rather than forming an internal square as they do now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">It will create 262 apartments, 49 affordable, with commercial spaces earmarked for \u2018for smaller, independent retailers\u2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">However, the housing schemes are not the only items on the planning committee\u2019s mega-agenda.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Controversial plans to relocate the brutalist grade-II listed Holloway Wall in the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/the-university-of-manchester\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Manchester<\/a>\u2019s recently-closed north campus are set to be approved, despite worries expressed by Historic England and the into a new publicly-accessible \u2018Manchester Room\u2019 is necessary for its \u00a31.7b \u2018Sister\u2019 project, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/forgotten-piccadilly-railway-arches-revitalised-31023990\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">set to build hundreds of homes, office space, and research facilities<\/a> between <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/oxford-road\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Oxford Road<\/a> and Piccadilly station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">Other applications set to be approved include a bid to build eight houses on \u2018grassland\u2019 in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/wythenshawe\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Wythenshawe<\/a>, an extension in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/didsbury\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Didsbury<\/a>, and for a student accommodation tower to be used out-of-term for temporary visits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"men\">However, a bid by the British Muslim Heritage Centre on College Road, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/whalley-range\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Whalley Range<\/a>, to retain its marquee used for services and weddings, is set to be refused.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\"
