A further three episodes will be released the following day, and the final three the day after.<\/p>\n<p>After the series was originally broadcast in six parts in the UK, it was released as an eight-volume VHS set in 1996 before being re-released on DVD in 2003 with an 81-minute special features disc.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the original documentary, The Beatles Anthology also consisted of a four-volume set of double albums and a book.<\/p>\n<p>As was announced back in August, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-beatles-anthology-returns-for-2025-with-new-book-album-release-documentary-and-free-as-a-bird-video-3886197\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all eight parts of the documentary series are coming to Disney+<\/a>, along with the bonus ninth episode. It features unseen footage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/paul-mccartney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul McCartney<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/george-harrison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Harrison<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/ringo-starr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ringo Starr<\/a>, the three surviving members at the time, working on the Anthology project in the 1990s and reflecting on their time in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-beatles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Beatles<\/a>. The new episode is directed by Oliver Murray \u2013 check out the two-minute trailer for the remastered series here:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The series as a whole begins with their days growing up in Liverpool, through to their time as a young band and then as global stars. The first eight episodes were directed by Geoff Wonfor, Bob Smeaton and Matt Longfellow, while all episodes were produced by McCartney, Starr, Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde and Martin R. Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the documentary, there are interviews with McCartney, Harrison and Starr, as well as archival interviews with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/john-lennon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Lennon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The re-released series has been remastered and restored by Apple Corps\u2019 production team along with technicians at Peter Jackson\u2019s Park Road Post in Wellington, New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Disney+ in \u2018The Beatles Collection\u2019 are a variety of films and series including Let It Be, Beatles \u201864 and The Beatles: Get Back. Meanwhile, the \u2018Anthology\u2019 compilation album is also set to be re-released. You can find the eight-CD box set <a href=\"https:\/\/ukstore.thebeatles.com\/products\/anthology-collection-2025-edition-8cd-boxset\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on the band\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>McCartney, meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/check-out-an-exclusive-photo-and-excerpt-from-paul-mccartneys-new-book-wings-the-story-of-a-band-on-the-run-3904920\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has a book about Wings<\/a>, the band he formed after The Beatles with his wife Linda, out now. Today (November 17), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/paul-mccartney-wings-book-excerpt-1235459333\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rolling Stone<\/a> shared an excerpt from Wings: Story Of A Band On The Run read by the singer-songwriter himself.<\/p>\n<p>And, he has contributed a silent track to the new vinyl edition of an anti-AI benefit compilation, \u2018Is This What We Want?\u2019, set for release later this month.
