A man is fighting for his life after he was struck by a car on Lawley Middleway<\/p>\n

Police have sealed off a major city route after a man was struck by a car.<\/p>\n

The pedestrian was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a critical condition<\/a> following the serious collision on Lawley Middleway at around 6.40am today, November 18.<\/p>\n

The busy road was closed by police in both directions following the collision.<\/p>\n

It remains shut at time of publication and a police investigation into the collision is underway.<\/p>\n

Officers have been pictured at the extensive cordon which is in place near Curzon Circus roundabout.<\/p>\n

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and to find alternative routes where possible.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service<\/a> said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction of Lawley Middleway and Garrison Circus, Digbeth<\/a>, at 6.40am today.<\/p>\n

“Two ambulances and MERIT trauma team responded to the incident.<\/p>\n

“Crews arrived to find a pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

An investigation is underway into the collision (Image: Nick Wilkinson\/Birmingham Live)<\/p>\n

“The team of medics worked together to administer advanced trauma care to the man to stabilise his condition before conveying him on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital<\/a> Birmingham<\/a> for further emergency care.\u201d<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Police<\/a> spokesperson told BirminghamLive: “We’re currently at the scene of a collision in Lawley Middleway.<\/p>\n

“Officers are at the scene carrying out enquiries and drivers are advised to find alternate routes.”<\/p>\n
