However, there are parts of Spain that can be overlooked by tourists because many flock to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/travel\/three-major-spanish-holiday-destinations-36103286\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"well-trodden paths like Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands.Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">well-trodden paths like Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">So to ensure travel fans aren&#8217;t missing out on some hidden gems, a globe-trotting expert has divulged five places you must add to your bucket list. Carlos Lavilla said: &#8220;These are the five destinations in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/spain\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"SpainLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a> you should visit at least once in your life. Remember, this is just my personal opinion as a travel agent and an inveterate traveller for more than 30 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">So would you ever give them a visit? Frigiliana, Malaga<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0_Frigiliana-village-whitewashed-in-Costa-del-Sol-of-Malaga-iAndal.jpg\" alt=\"Frigiliana village whitewashed white typical in Costa del Sol of Malaga in Andalusia Spain\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Frigiliana village sits right by the beaches of the region(Image: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Frigiliana is famous for its well-preserved Moorish old quarter, with narrow, winding cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, colourful doors, and flower-filled balconies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">The village is perched on a hillside, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, countryside, and the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">For that reason, it&#8217;s no surprise it&#8217;s considered one of the prettiest villages in Andalusia and has won awards for its beauty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">It\u2019s also close to the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park, making it a great base for hiking, birdwatching, and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n<p>2. Its pink-hued houses, narrow winding streets, wooden balconies, and ancient stone walls create a fairy-tale atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">The town\u2019s medieval layout and architecture are exceptionally well preserved, which takes the breath away of tourists who visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">When visiting, you can check out the impressive city walls that snake up the hillside, as well as the ruins of the Moorish castle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Walking along the walls provides panoramic views of the town and surrounding countryside, so get your camera at the ready.<\/p>\n<p>4. The city offers delicious Castilian cuisine, including specialties like hornazo (meat pie), jam\u00f3n ib\u00e9rico, and local cheeses, enjoyed in traditional tapas bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>5.
