However, AssembleDebug has seen updates under the hood of the Google Play Store app that include upcoming Gamer Profiles and the ability to \u201cfollow\u201d other users. AssembleDebug says the Play Store can already track gamers\u2019 achievements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Google Play Games for Android <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2013\/7\/24\/4553190\/google-play-games-app-for-android-will-be-available-today\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched in 2013<\/a> to compete with Apple\u2019s Game Center \u2014 at a time when smartphone gaming was hitting its stride and, for the first time, really challenging portable video game systems for people\u2019s attention. Google has often moved features between apps as they aged, like when Google Pay bowed out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/2\/23\/24080605\/google-wallet-pay-mobile-payments-credit-cards-keys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in favor of Google Wallet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Google Play Games app isn\u2019t the same as the company\u2019s Google Play Games for PC service, which lets you play select Android games on Windows computers (and has been in beta for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/1\/19\/22891046\/google-play-games-android-games-windows-pc-beta-launch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than three years<\/a>).
