Sheffield Wednesday have been given clearance to sign two free agents<\/a> after their financial turmoil. Administration has breathed new life into SWFC, despite the 12-point deduction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Henrik Pedersen has had to contend with a threadbare squad, propped up by several academy prospects. The addition of Liam Cooper and impending<\/a> signing of another free agent will go along way to bolstering the ranks with some depth and experience.<\/p>\n

One man who has been training with the Owls is former right-back Jack Hunt, and it seemed he was a candidate to join from their free agent shortlist.<\/p>\n

However, as per a report from The Star<\/a>, the recent Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> trainee is now set to sign for Stockport County<\/a>. He has been able to maintain his fitness at Middlewood Road and should be well equipped to join the Hatters\u2019 push for promotion from League One.<\/p>\n

Jack Hunt will be a fine addition to Stockport County<\/a>\u2019s promotion push<\/p>\n

Stockport County<\/a> sit top of the League One table, despite defeat to Luton Town<\/a> last time out. They had won four straight going into that game and have a game in hand on Lincoln City<\/a> behind them.<\/p>\n

The Hatters appear to be very well-placed to go one further after last season\u2019s play-off heartbreak. Bolton Wanderers<\/a> are on the charge, but early surprise packages Bradford City<\/a> and Stevenage<\/a> have tailed off, so there is the chance for someone to take the promotion fight by the scruff of the neck.<\/p>\n

Someone of the experience of ex-Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> man Hunt should only help them do that.<\/p>\n

Although he turns 35 in December and is perhaps a little beyond his highest playing levels, the experience and leadership he offers is second to none. The Leeds-born full-back played nearly 300 games of Championship football and has 162 League One outings to his name as well.<\/p>\n

Couple that with two League One promotion wins, and the Hatters have a very valuable addition to their ranks.<\/p>\n

Although Hunt has experience and leadership under his belt, Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> will feel they can aim a little higher with regard to their next free transfer signing.<\/p>\n

Having him around the squad, boosting the numbers and helping the young players as a trainee will have been of huge value. However, there are likely free agents who can come in and have a more telling impact in match situations.<\/p>\n

Among the players linked have been Timothy Fosu-Mensah<\/a> and Nathan Redmond<\/a>.
