Richard Hughes brought in a new winger without the media and the club\u2019s fans realising\u00a0during\u00a0the summer window. <\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n There\u2019s a lot of talk about the club\u2019s potential pursuit of Antoine Semenyo. The Bournemouth winger seems to be available in the January transfer window and he\u2019s pretty much everything Liverpool look for in attacker.<\/p>\n Article continues under the video<\/p>\n Semenyo is fast, two-footed and he works tirelessly off the ball. On top of that he\u2019s versatile, capable of playing across the front three. He\u2019s the epitome of the quintessential Liverpool attacker.<\/p>\n But there are some rightly questioning whether he is exactly what Liverpool need right now.<\/p>\n The reality is that there are further issues to solve at the back and in midfield. Signing a left-winger right now feels like a luxury.<\/p>\n Especially just as another player at the club is starting to confirm that he may not be an attacking midfielder but a left-winger as well.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n We\u2019re talking about Florian Wirtz<\/a>, of course. Liverpool signed him as the club\u2019s future and present no.10.<\/p>\n In the summer he was billed as the \u2018upgrade\u2019 for Dominik Szoboszlai. This hasn\u2019t quite turned out in the way many expected it. Szoboszlai has maintained his role whereas Wirtz has struggled to adjust to life in England.<\/p>\n But that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean it\u2019s not going to work out for him at the club.<\/p>\n Wirtz is young and sometimes players need time to adjust. It\u2019s also important to acknowledge that perhaps the best role for him isn\u2019t as a no.10.<\/p>\n Right now, in the system, he may be a much better player on the left-wing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n His performances for Germany\u2019s senior national team in the November international break should be confirmation of that.<\/p>\n In both of Germany\u2019s matches Wirtz started on the left-wing, he created the most chances (5) in the first game and then registered two assists in the second.<\/p>\n Wirtz\u2019s performance in both games was very impressive. Yes, the sides weren\u2019t the greatest.
