Troy Parrott is emerging as a concrete target for Leeds in the January transfer window, amid reports in the Netherlands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

De Telegraaf believe Leeds are already in talks with AZ Alkmaar<\/a> over a deal for the Republic of Ireland international, after his heroic hat-trick against Hungary took him up to 18 goals in 18 appearances for club and country so far this season.<\/p>\n

As the 49ers<\/a> attempt to sign Troy Parrott<\/a> for Daniel Farke<\/a> this winter, a prediction made by Jose Mourinho while managing the 23-year-old at Tottenham has come true.<\/p>\n

Jose Mourinho felt Troy Parrott would get \u201cstronger and stronger\u201d with time as Leeds United look to take advantage of his rise<\/p>\n

The Dublin-born striker rarely got a chance at Spurs with the formidable Harry Kane leading the line.<\/p>\n

17 goals in just 15 games for the Tottenham U18 side \u2013 however \u2013 led fans to demand Mourinho give Parrott a chance, which prompted the Portuguese tactician to call for patience instead.<\/p>\n

The Standard<\/a> quoted the 62-year-old as saying back in March 2020: \u201cI think Troy will come even stronger and stronger when everything happens step by step, and not immediately, because he is not ready for immediately. It is a process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parrott certainly has needed to take his career \u201cstep by step\u201d and be patient. <\/p>\n

Uneventful loans to Millwall, Ipswich, MK Dons and Preston between 2020 and 2023 had many questioning whether the Irishman would fulfil his potential, but the switch to AZ Alkmaar in July 2024 has seen him explode.<\/p>\n

Parrott can boast 33 goals and seven assists in 61 appearances for the Dutch outfit so far, and as he puts Ireland on the cusp of World Cup qualification, his star is now rising rapidly. <\/p>\n

Hopefully, Leeds<\/a> can be the beneficiaries of his talent with a successful swoop in January.<\/p>\n

Ange Postecoglou has praised Troy Parrott and could soon get the chance to work with the Irishman at Leeds United<\/p>\n

Another former Tottenham manager in Ange Postecoglou also thinks highly of Parrott, saying back in October 2024: \u201cIt is good to see Troy doing well.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is looking like he started his AZ career in positive fashion so it is great. In terms of getting a chance, sometimes in football it is just about timing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Postecoglou could soon work with Parrott<\/a> at Leeds, as the Daily Mail report that the Australian and Brendan Rodgers are two possible candidates should the 49ers opt to sack Farke.<\/p>\n
