Despite now living a separate life in the US, Harry was ready to stand by his father, King Charles’s, side when he was diagnosed with cancer. Royal expert Tom Quinn claimed Harry offered to take on a temporary royal role to take some of the burden off Charles and allow him to focus on his treatment. Quinn also alleged that Markle, however, was ‘absolutely against’ this.

Article continues below advertisement

Quinn told The Mirror that Harry had made the offer “safe in the knowledge it would be rejected” during his visit to the UK while visiting Charles. The expert said, “Harry will not move back to the UK without Meghan–not even for a few months. But he had to make the offer because anything else would have looked callous and uncaring.” He added, “The family no longer trusts him and, besides, Meghan is absolutely against it. There is far too much bad blood now for it to be even a remote possibility.”

Article continues below advertisement

Quinn alleged that Harry was ‘shocked and upset’ when he learned of his father’s cancer. He explained, “Having lost his mother aged 12, he had come to assume that, whatever their ups and downs, his father would enjoy the longevity enjoyed by the late Queen and Prince Philip.” The expert revealed that despite Harry’s complaints in Spare and various TV interviews, he “wanted to do something practical to help.” However, Palace sources have denied any possibility of his temporary return to royal duties. An insider told The Telegraph, “Those terms were quite clear, and the King’s illness hasn’t altered that.” Another confirmed that the views of the late Queen, the King, and Prince William, that a hybrid model of working royalty was not appropriate, “remains the case.”

Article continues below advertisement

Reflecting on Harry’s offer to return to royal duties, royal expert Ingrid Seward opined that he ‘doesn’t understand’ the damage he has inflicted. Speaking to GB News, she slammed, “Harry should have been more careful, really what he said, but he probably does think that he could walk back in, but he certainly couldn’t.” Host Nana Akua agreed with the royal expert, chiming, “The British public wouldn’t have it anyway because we’re paying for them.” Seward also believes that Harry’s return to the royal fold could negatively impact them. She argued, “It’s almost as though he has literally no understanding of the damage that he’s caused and that he thinks he can just simply offer himself back in at some point.”

Article continues below advertisement

Harry has previously expressed gratitude for being able to visit his father in London amidst his battle against cancer.
