A popular family-friendly pub has gone all out with its Christmas<\/a> display this year as it reaches a special milestone.<\/p>\n

It’s six years since Coal & Cotton opened its doors in Boothstown, Salford<\/a>, where it’s been a runaway success.<\/p>\n

Now the Leigh Road venue is sparkling more than ever after the installation of its biggest ever festive display.<\/p>\n

Created by Cheshire-based floral artist Kelly Louise Chapman, the designer behind the lavish displays at The Black Friar, close to Manchester city centre<\/a>, it’s taken on a winter wonderland theme of its own.<\/p>\n

More than 20,000 fairy lights have been installed throughout the venue and its ‘Coal & Canary’ concept pays tribute to the area’s rich mining heritage.<\/p>\n

With the nearby Mosley Common Colliery once being a major employer in the area – when canaries were used underground as early warning systems for dangerous gases – the decorations and exterior mural of canaries, is a nod to this local history and the community\u2019s roots.<\/p>\n

The display, launched earlier this month, arrived just in time for the pub’s sixth birthday celebrations last week, when diners were invited along to a special ‘pay what you feel’ evening, with all proceeds going to the Moya Cole Hospice, which recently changed its name from St Ann’s<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’ll help set the scene for the pub’s Christmas Market, which takes place on Saturday, November 22, with artisan stalls, entertainment and festive music. And today, November 18, its festive menu launched in full with festive roast dinners, steaks, pies, pizzas and more.<\/p>\n

Owner Jason Green said: \u201cThe feedback for our Christmas display has been phenomenal. We\u2019ve never gone quite this big, but it was absolutely worth it.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve had new faces coming to visit because they\u2019ve seen our social media. We used the incredible Kelly Louise, the designer behind most of Manchester’s iconic displays, including The Black Friar and Gotham Hotel – and she’s helped bring a bespoke display to Boothstown.<\/p>\n

“We couldn\u2019t be more proud to represent Boothstown’s history and bring the community together for Christmas.”<\/p>\n

Coal & Cotton, which is hosting live music every Friday and Saturday in November from 9.30pm, was formerly The Greyhound and is tucked away down a little street at the side of the local Post Office.<\/p>\n

The place reopened in 2019 after a \u00a3750,000 transformation which left it unrecognisable inside and out and it’s now as popular for its outdoor heated tipi seating as much as its cosy twinkling interior.<\/p>\n
