Queen Camilla brought a notable piece of royal history back into the spotlight on Tuesday evening during the Diplomatic Corps reception at Windsor Castle. The event, hosted by the King and Queen, with the Prince of Wales also in attendance, marked the first time the annual gathering has taken place at Windsor since 2001.<\/p>\n

Camilla chose the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara<\/a>, a memorable piece most recently seen at Princess Eugenie\u2019s 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank<\/a>. The Princess paired the diadem with her Peter Pilotto bridal gown<\/a>, and the tiara\u2019s striking central stone quickly became one of the most memorable royal wedding jewels in recent years. But before Eugenie selected the tiara, the piece hadn\u2019t been seen in decades.<\/p>\n

Per The Royal Watcher<\/a>, the tiara was created by Boucheron in 1919 for Margaret Greville, a well-known society hostess who was a close friend of Queen Mary. The tiara features pav\u00e9-set diamonds, six smaller emeralds, and a 93.7-carat emerald at its center. Styled after the kokoshnik shape popular in the Russian Imperial Court, the design was considered bold at the time. Greville left her extensive jewelry collection to Queen Elizabeth, later known as the Queen Mother, in 1942. The trunk of Greville jewels included the Greville Diamond Tiara (a favorite today of Queen Camilla<\/a>), the Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, and several other valuable necklaces and earrings.<\/p>\n

However, while Prince William spoke with guests down the line at the reception, Kate Middleton did not attend<\/a>. Earlier in the day, the Princess of Wales made a solo appearance in London<\/a> at the Future Workforce Summit. The event, hosted by the Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, included her first public speech in two years and her first since returning to work following her cancer treatment. The summit focused on how businesses can better support children and families during early childhood.<\/p>\n
