Rangers could be set to welcome winger Rabbi Matondo<\/a> back into the fold following a long injury lay-off, with the wide man snapped in first team training at Auchenhowie.<\/p>\n The Wales international has yet to kick a ball this season and hasn’t featured since appearing as a last-minute sub for his country in their 4-3 defeat to Belgium in World Cup qualifying back in June.<\/p>\n In fact, Matondo hasn’t stepped onto the field as a Rangers<\/a> player since January 9, 2025, after spending the second half of last season on loan in Germany’s second tier with Hannover 96, where he scored once in 10 matches.<\/p>\n Matondo was heavily linked with a permanent move away from Ibrox during the summer transfer window, with clubs in Turkey interested in his services.<\/p>\n However, the wide man could be handed a fresh start by new manager Danny Rohl<\/a> and was pictured taking part in training ahead of the Light Blues returning to league action with a home clash against Livingston on Saturday.<\/p>\n And Matondo isn’t the only player in line for a return after a long spell on the sidelines. Midfielder Kieran Dowell has been out of action since the middle of August with a serious foot injury but has also been snapped at the Rangers Training Centre.<\/p>\n Dowell’s career in Govan looked to be over after he was shipped out on loan to Birmingham City earlier this year, playing a big part in the Blues making a successful return to the English Championship by romping to the League One title.<\/p>\n He was used heavily by sacked Gers boss Russell Martin in the early part of the season, with the former Scotland international revealing that he saw the midfielder as one of his leaders within the dressing room.<\/p>\n However, Dowell has never won over supporters at Ibrox, with the player subjected to boos when he appeared from the bench in the 1-1 draw with Dundee back in August<\/a>.<\/p>\n Asked about the reaction at the time, gaffer Martin replied: : “That surprised me. I’m not on any social media or anything like that, so I don’t really know what the narrative is around Kieran. I don’t think it helps him, I don’t think it helps the rest of the guys. That’s how I feel about it really.<\/p>\n “I\u2019m disappointed for Kieran, because what we’ve seen at the training ground and I speak to everyone there, he’s really valued as a person and a character. And he’s played out of position for us for three games.<\/p>\n “He\u2019s a really good footballer, so I don’t know what’s gone on before.
