West Midlands Police said officers had been called to Bordesley Green East at 1.20pm yesterday<\/p>\n

A man has tragically been found dead after police responded to reports of a ‘man in a canal’ in Birmingham.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> said officers had been called to Bordesley Green<\/a> East – which is close to the River Cole – at 1.20pm yesterday, Tuesday, November 18.<\/p>\n

Police said the man was declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Ambulance service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: “We were called to an incident in an area off Bordesley Green<\/a> East in Yardley<\/a>, Birmingham<\/a> at 1.48pm.<\/p>\n

“We sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene.<\/p>\n

\"EmergencyEmergency services on Bordesley Green East in Birmingham<\/p>\n

“On arrival, crews found a man but sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved.<\/p>\n

“He was confirmed dead at the scene.”<\/p>\n

A police spokesman added: “We were called to Bordesley Green East at around 1.20pm yesterday (18 November) to reports of a man in a canal.<\/p>\n

“Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner in due course.”<\/p>\n

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson added: “Shortly before 1.40pm on Tuesday 18 November, we responded to Bordesley Green East, Yardley.<\/p>\n

“Two fire engines from Erdington<\/a> and Hay Mills responded. Firefighters were supported by a crew from our specialist technical rescue unit.<\/p>\n

“Crews helped bring the body of a man to shore, and he was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.
