And even though it’s smaller than traditional IKEAs, but it’s just as eye-popping.

More than 5,500 items are displayed in the new store at Destiny USA, which opens Friday at 10 a.m. Another 3,000 products can be purchased at the store and taken home.

“Having a smaller store with this new format lets us get to Central New York quicker so we can build these stores quickly,” said John Spence, manager of the Syracuse store.

IKEA in Syracuse opens Friday, Nov. 20, 2025 at Destiny USA. The store is located in the former At Home store, which is more than 80,000 square feet.

Syracuse’s mini-IKEA has 75 smaller furniture items available for immediate pickup. There is no warehouse section as in the larger stand-alone stores near Toronto, Boston and New York City. But shoppers can still order items from 12 designed showrooms displaying products. Larger IKEAs have about 56 rooms.

The store layout leads you through each of the 12 rooms. “The IKEA journey is designed very strategically, so customers have the opportunity to see everything,” Spence said.

IKEA in Syracuse opens Friday, Nov. 20, 2025 at Destiny USA.
