There are a few streets and areas in London that are all but reserved for the ultra-wealthy. We\u2019re not talking about places where others aren\u2019t allowed to go, but rather places that we couldn\u2019t possibly afford to shop or live. Areas like Notting Hill<\/a>, Mayfair<\/a>, Hampstead<\/a>, and Richmond<\/a> \u2013 places with properties we dream of living in and stunning shops selling brands we\u2019re not wealthy enough to have heard of. And, in what should come as no surprise, recent research has even revealed that our city is home to the most expensive main street in the whole world.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, folks \u2013 London is officially very expensive (as if we didn\u2019t know that already). Global real estate company Cushman & Wakefield recently released its 35th annual guide to \u2018Main Streets Across The World\u2019<\/strong>, and our city rose to the top of a slightly concerning list. That\u2019s because New Bond Street<\/a> was officially named the most expensive main street in the world. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The world\u2019s most expensive main streets <\/p>\n

This year, New Bond Street rose two places to the top of the list, overtaking Milan and New York for the top position<\/strong>. This was largely due to a year-on-year increase in rental prices in the area of a whopping 22%. For the title, London\u2019s New Bond Street beat out the likes of Via Montenapoleone in Milan<\/a>, Upper 5th Avenue (between 49th and 60th Streets) in New York<\/a>, and the Avenue des Champs Elys\u00e9es in Paris<\/a>.<\/p>\n

New Bond Street (otherwise simply known as Bond Street) is home to a wealth of luxury establishments<\/strong>. Walk along its length and you\u2019ll find the likes of Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and much more. It\u2019s also home to Sotheby\u2019s and Halcyon<\/a>, two impressive names in the art world.<\/p>\n

  5. Avenue des Champs Elys\u00e9es<\/strong> \u2013 Paris, France<\/li>\n
  6. Ginza<\/strong> \u2013 Tokyo, Japan<\/li>\n
  7. Bahnhofstrasse<\/strong> \u2013 Zurich, Switzerland<\/li>\n
  8. Pitt Street Mall<\/strong> \u2013 Sydney, Australia<\/li>\n
  9. Myeongdong<\/strong> \u2013 Seoul, South Korea<\/li>\n
  10. Kohlmarkt<\/strong> \u2013 Vienna, Austria<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    So if you\u2019re planning on doing your Christmas shopping, maybe head somewhere else \u2013 unless you\u2019ve got the cash to splash! (In which case, feel free to buy me a gift\u2026) But if you fancy some window shopping, there\u2019s definitely plenty to see.<\/strong><\/p>\n
