Cuffs, the Brighton-set crime drama starring Ashley Walters<\/a>, Jacob Ifan, and Amanda Abbington, is coming to Netflix. Set to land on the streamer on Friday, 28 November, all eight episodes will be available to binge. <\/p>\n

First released in 2015<\/a>, Cuffs follows members of the fictional South Sussex Police service as they contend with local crimes, while navigating their ever-complicated personal lives. Leading the cast, Ifan appears as PC Jake Vickers, a new recruit learning the ropes from his Tutor Constable PC Ryan Draper (Walters), while Abbington portrays DS Jo Moffat, an investigator who has been having a secret affair with Jake’s father, Chief Superintendent Robert Vickers (Peter Sullivan). <\/p>\n

Rounding out the cast, Shaun Dooley, Paul Ready, Alex Carter and Eleanor Matsuura also star. <\/p>\n

Cuffs, which has received glowing reviews from fans, was cancelled by the BBC<\/a> after just one season, with a spokesperson noting that the decision had been made to “create space for new shows” (via The Mirror<\/a>). <\/p>\n

Nonetheless, the police drama has acquired a loyal fanbase, with one IMDb user<\/a> hailing it as the “most original and magnetic programme in years”. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a second noted<\/a>: “I binge-watched this show over the last couple of days and it was absolutely amazing! The action and the scenarios were exciting, adrenaline-fuelled and at times, very intense!<\/p>\n

“Each character was different and had their own advantages and disadvantages, and were played very well. The writing was amazing and so so realistic. I really wish they made more episodes because this show is amazing.”<\/p>\n

Echoing this sentiment, a third wrote<\/a>: “Great character development and an entertaining account of personal and professional challenges in a Brighton police department. Good script and wonderful acting. A diverse cast with equally diverse characters [often] underrepresented in many current shows.<\/p>\n

“A real shame that the BBC didn’t renew it. Shows of this calibre are hard to come by.” <\/p>\n

Speaking with Digital Spy<\/strong> and other outlets<\/a> in 2015, Walters revealed that he joined the show because it was so different from his role in Top Boy.<\/p>\n

“It’s good to be doing something really different. On Top Boy, I found myself, every day, on the phone – ‘Where are ya? You got the food [drugs]? Where’s the money?’ – and all my scenes were in Dalston Market,” he explained. <\/p>\n

“Whereas with this, we’re in different places all the time, doing different things, confronting different bad guys, there’s different emotions. It’s a chance to show your range, and prove to people that you should be in the position that you’re in.”<\/p>\n
