The construction of new council homes in Farsley has moved a step closer to becoming a reality.<\/p>\n

Council chiefs have this week agreed to enter into a pre-construction services agreement to deliver new council homes at the former Richmond House site in Richmond Road.<\/p>\n

A community consultation<\/a> into initial designs for 33 apartments earlier this year has led to a redesign of the proposals following concerns from the community and Calverley & Farsley ward councillors. <\/p>\n

WLD understands a full planning application for the site is due to be submitted shortly.<\/p>\n

A council report released this week has given the go ahead to appoint Termrim Construction Ltd to complete pre-construction activities for a total of \u00a3341,180.<\/p>\n

The council report adds: \u201cThis proposal will bring a currently unused brownfield site back into use, providing high-quality\u00a0housing that supports the council\u2019s inclusive growth and climate emergency agendas, together with wider benefit to the community in respect of improved access to higher-quality green space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richmond House Care Home was closed in 2021 due to council cuts and the building\u00a0was demolished\u00a0<\/a>in 2023.<\/p>\n
