Sir John Kirwan says that he is simply \u201cnot used\u201d to the types of performances the All Blacks have been producing since Scott Robertson took charge.<\/b><\/p>\n
New Zealand suffered their third loss of the year when they went down 33-19 to England, which ended their Grand Slam dream.<\/p>\n
Scott Robertson\u2019s<\/a> men still reside in second place, behind the Springboks, in the World Rugby rankings, but there is no doubt that they haven\u2019t matched the expectations of the pundits and supporters.<\/p>\n Two sides to the All Blacks\u2019 personality<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s just something within the team that we\u2019re just not used to seeing as All Blacks<\/a> fans. Honestly, there\u2019s some amazing rugby being played and then we have this other side of our personality,\u201d Kirwan<\/a> said on the Rivals podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cHow often do you see an All Black team miss touch with the ability to go 15 points clear? We missed touch twice at critical times, didn\u2019t take a kick at goal.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just really difficult for us to understand what\u2019s going on. We\u2019re pretty gutted. It\u2019s hard to come up with the answers but there are absolutely not excuses.\u201d<\/p>\n New Zealand had defeated Ireland and Scotland on their northern hemisphere tour but they found England far too tough of a nut to crack.<\/p>\n Kirwan praised the performance of Steve Borthwick\u2019s side but was still left frustrated by the efforts of the All Blacks.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought England were really, really good, clinical, had heaps of energy and we weren\u2019t good enough,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s frustrating because I think that if you want to be an All Black now and go down in the legacy, it\u2019s like South Africa \u2013 you\u2019ve got to win something like the Grand Slam.<\/p>\n \u201cFor us not to win the Grand Slam as a team, they don\u2019t go down in the history books. It\u2019s frustrating if you\u2019re a Kiwi now.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the moment, we\u2019re just not good enough and if you don\u2019t admit that to yourself\u2026 one of the things I\u2019ve always been taught as an All Black is the first person you need to look at is yourself in the mirror.\u201d<\/p>\n
