Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s reserve price has been set at \u00a330 million amid 21 November\u2019s soft deadline for indicative takeover bids.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to The Star<\/a>, previous owner Dejphon Chansiri is likely to receive \u00a315.6 million as part of any deal to buy the club.<\/p>\n

The Thai businessman has overseen the financial mismanagement of the Championship side, which has led to their going into administration.<\/p>\n

He was a deeply unpopular figure among Owls supporters, which led to numerous protests urging him to sell his stake in the side prior to their October administration.<\/p>\n

It was reported<\/a> earlier this year that Chansiri was seeking up to \u00a3100 million in order to sell Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, but he is now likely to receive far less than that when a deal is agreed with the administrators Begbies Traynor.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed<\/a> that prospective owners could need to pay at least \u00a330 million in order to satisfactorily pay the club\u2019s creditors and pass the EFL\u2019s regulations.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s believed<\/a> that this figure will avoid any further sanctions, which will be massively beneficial for whoever takes control of Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, as it will prevent any further player registration embargoes or points deductions.<\/p>\n

However, Chansiri will still be owed<\/a> \u00a315.6 million as part of any deal due to the \u00a362.5 million owed to him prior to the club going into administration.<\/p>\n

As per an EFL ruling, any of the Owls\u2019 football creditors must be paid<\/a> 25 per cent on the pound of what they were originally owed, or 35 per cent paid over a three-year period.<\/p>\n

But some debts have reportedly<\/a> already been paid off, so will not be a concern to any prospective buyer, with that including payment to FIFA regarding foreign transfers, which could ease concerns over further transfer bans.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, debt related to Hillsborough relates to the separate entity set up by Chansiri known as Sheffield 3, which was also placed into administration alongside the club.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood<\/a> that the \u00a354 million debt owed to Chansiri is a low priority, and that he has no protections under the EFL\u2019s regulations, and that it\u2019s recommended the \u00a37.4 million debt owed to New Avenue Projects should be settled.<\/p>\n

Outside of the takeover developments, Henrik Pedersen’s side remain bottom of the Championship table, 17 points adrift of safety just 15 games into the season.<\/p>\n

The effective cost of \u00a330 million to settle Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s<\/a> creditors is far lower than the \u00a3100 million asking price Chansiri set earlier in the year.<\/p>\n

While he will still come away from this takeover with something, supporters will take some solace from the fact he is only receiving a small fraction of what he could\u2019ve made if he had just sold the club before going into administration.<\/p>\n

A takeover is on the horizon, and it\u2019s an exciting prospect for the team, who have endured a lot of struggle under the current regime.<\/p>\n
