Selling everything from epic fantasy to magical realism the store has already been a hit with two and half hour queues down the street on its opening weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been constantly busy\u201d says owner Abby Munro, 37, who quit her job in 2020 to pursue book selling full time. &#8220;I hoped it would do well but I absolutely did not expect the response had.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Paper and Word was based online for seven years but Abby&#8217;s<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/charming-family-run-bookshop-tucked-32834089\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" dreams of owning a physical storeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> dreams of owning a physical store<\/a> came true this year in part thanks to a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/liverpools-most-remarkable-kickstarter-campaigns-10085490\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Kickstarter Link opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Kickstarter <\/a>which raised \u00a326,000 from donations made by<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/special-features\/liverpool-local-becomes-published-author-30354562\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" local authorsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> local authors<\/a> and members of the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">She said: \u201cIt was an incredible response. It\u2019s been a whole journey that a lot of people have come along with us. We\u2019ve got names on the ceiling of people who donated significant amounts. The bookish community is rooting for us\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">With kids&#8217; picture books to adult novels, authors include some of the genre&#8217;s most trending with series from Sarah J Maas and Robin Hobbs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0_paper-and-word-fantasy-independent-book-shop-church-road-bebington-village-wirral-1012.jpg\" alt=\"Inside Paper and Word\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Inside Paper and Word(Image: Folkstar Photography )<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Abby said: \u201cFantasy is quite a broad genre which is why it works well as a bookshop because you can split into sub genres. There\u2019s epic fantasy with fays, elves, magic and usually no technology. There\u2018s romantasy which has been big in the past few years then magical realism which is usually set in the world we know. We also have a small dark fantasy section with more adult themes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Speaking of her own found love of the genre Abby said: &#8220;As a teenager I sought out the same joy I found in books as a child. Future events will include <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/theatre-news\/michael-morpurgo-talks-liverpool-war-31359378\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"author talksLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">author talks<\/a> and midnight book releases where the shop will open in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">As well as a personal attachment to Bebington, where she lives with her husband and son, the area couldn&#8217;t be more perfect for fans of the fantasy genre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">As local legend has it, the lamppost in C.S Lewis\u2019 Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe was <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/local-news\/nine-things-you-might-not-9077513\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"inspired by one in the churchyard of St Andrew\u2019s ChurchLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">inspired by one in the churchyard of St Andrew\u2019s Church<\/a> on Church Road, Bebington, with Lewis being friends with local aristocrat and fellow fantasy author<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/in-your-area\/david-charters-superheroes-needed-not-15922055\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\" Roger Lancelyn GreenLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Roger Lancelyn Green<\/a>.
