{"id":582294,"date":"2025-11-20T10:10:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/582294\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T10:10:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:10:22","slug":"liverpool-viewed-as-frontrunners-to-sign-extraordinary-player-ahead-of-man-utd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/582294\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool viewed as frontrunners to sign &#8216;extraordinary&#8217; player ahead of Man Utd"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Liverpool are leading Manchester United in the transfer race for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, one journalist has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It has emerged recently that the Cherries ace, who has six Premier League goals already this season, has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2025\/11\/18\/how-bournemouth-feel-about-losing-antoine-semenyo-amid-links-to-liverpool-in-january\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a365m release clause<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One report has suggested that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2025\/11\/19\/liverpool-are-now-confident-they-can-sign-brilliant-premier-league-player-in-january\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool are \u2018confident\u2019 about signing Semenyo<\/a> from Bournemouth in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"40\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/mail.png\" alt=\"mail icon\"\/>Join our newsletter for news &amp; smart analysis. <\/p>\n<p>But given his fairly attractive release clause, which is active for all clubs, he may well have interest from elsewhere in the coming transfer windows.<\/p>\n<p>On that front, potential interest from Manchester United has been mooted by one journalist this week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2191970343-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Liverpool's manager Arne Slot and Manchester United's head coach Ruben Amorim look on during an English Premier League football match\" \/>Photo by DARREN STAPLES\/AFP via Getty ImagesLiverpool frontrunners for Antoine Semenyo ahead of Manchester United<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Salt has held a Man Utd Q&amp;A via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sport\/football\/article-15302475\/Manchester-United-transfers-Baleba-Semenyo-Lacey.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Daily Mail<\/a>, with a Semenyo deal among the topics discussed.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, he also mentioned interest in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2025\/11\/19\/spanish-reporter-claims-liverpool-already-have-next-signing-pretty-much-secured-amid-barcelona-links\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool transfer target Marc Guehi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/tag\/antoine-semenyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antoine Semenyo<\/a> is one to watch, even if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a> are viewed as frontrunners in that particular pursuit, and expect United to be watching Marc Guehi\u2019s situation with interest given his contract will be six months from expiring.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA centre back is on the agenda with limited progress made on extending Harry Maguire\u2019s deal, which expires in the summer. He will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad in around six weeks\u2019 time as things stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile United are not expecting significant activity in January, they are not ruling out bringing forward moves for summer targets if the chance presents itself. Look at how they made a late play to get Baleba, a player who remains their No 1 target, in the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Antoine Semenyo highly regarded by Rooney, Owen and more<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen what the future holds for the winger, who has received high praise amid a prolific 12 months for Bournemouth.<\/p>\n<p>This week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2025\/11\/19\/liverpool-want-to-sign-a-player-wayne-rooney-thinks-has-been-better-than-all-of-slots-men-in-25-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wayne Rooney praised Semenyo<\/a>, naming him among his top-three Premier League players in the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Owen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rousingthekop.com\/2025\/01\/16\/michael-owen-urges-liverpool-to-finalise-move-for-brilliant-premier-league-forward-after-interest-emerges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called the Liverpool target \u2018brilliant\u2019<\/a> earlier this year and urged his former side to get a deal done.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, speaking late last month, as quoted by <a href=\"https:\/\/3news.com\/sports\/football\/pep-guardiola-praises-antoine-semenyos-exceptional-talent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">3News<\/a>, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola dubbed Semenyo \u2018extraordinary\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Guardiola said: \u201cHe [Semenyo] is very good, absolutely he is.
