Picture: Callum Mackay.<\/p>\n<p>Direct flights from Inverness to Birmingham will return early in 2026 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northern-times.co.uk\/news\/loss-of-loganair-s-birmingham-and-dublin-routes-will-have-a-333062\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just two years after the route was axed by a different airline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>easyJet have taken over the route, which will resume operations in March.<\/p>\n<p>Inverness previously had direct flights to Birmingham with Loganair, but these were axed just days into 2024 &#8211; alongside the Highland capital&#8217;s Dublin service &#8211; prompting concerns over the &#8220;seriously detrimental impact&#8221; the move could have for business and personal travellers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northern-times.co.uk\/news\/loss-of-loganair-s-birmingham-and-dublin-routes-will-have-a-333062\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colin Marr, the chief executive of the Inverness Chamber of Commerce<\/a>, said: \u201cThe loss [of the route] will have a seriously detrimental effect for both business and personal travel. Birmingham is a popular business route for both the area itself and is also used by some business travellers for their fast train services to attend London meetings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So news that direct flights to Birmingham are to return under easyJet is likely to be warmly welcomed by many.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the news on its socials, Inverness Airport said it was &#8220;delighted&#8221; and that the route will resume from March.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Birmingham is back! We are delighted to welcome easyJet\u2019s new direct Inverness to Birmingham service, restoring a route our passengers have often told us they wanted to see return,&#8221; said a spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tickets are on sale from today, with flights starting in March 2026!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You can find out more at <a href=\"www.easyjet.com\">www.easyjet.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The return of direct flights to Birmingham comes just weeks after the Caledonian Sleeper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverness-courier.co.uk\/news\/caledonian-sleeper-to-add-birmingham-international-airport-a-393521\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced the addition of Birmingham International to its Inverness-London service<\/a> &#8211; a move which was also welcomed by Highland airline passengers looking to fly through the Midlands city.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forres-gazette.co.uk\/news\/transport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More transport news<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An easyJet flight taking off from Inverness Airport.
