Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Ahmed El Bouari, met today in C\u00f3rdoba with his Spanish counterpart, Luis Planas, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n
The two ministers commended the strong ties between Morocco and Spain, rooted in geographical proximity, a shared Mediterranean heritage, and a common vision on challenges related to climate change, water management, and agricultural system resilience.<\/p>\n
They noted the complementarity of the two economies in agri-food trade and the importance of strengthening dialogue to build mutual trust and elevate agricultural cooperation to a higher level.<\/p>\n
Discussions also focused on deepening technical and scientific collaboration, particularly in sanitary and phytosanitary matters, sustainable management and modernization of irrigation systems, and the development of non-conventional water resources.<\/p>\n
The two ministers reiterated the importance of continuing consultations and further reinforcing cooperation across various areas, reflecting the shared ambitions of the two countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They pointed to the coordination of efforts in preparation for upcoming milestones and monitoring the implementation of commitments made by Rabat and Madrid.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring this meeting, we engaged in an in-depth exchange and reviewed the main areas of cooperation between our two countries, while assessing the state of our bilateral agri-food relations,\u201d Spanish Minister Luis Planas told MAP.<\/p>\n
The \u201cexemplary collaboration between Morocco and Spain on many issues of shared interest, particularly those linked to our common geographical position, the impacts of climate change, water challenges, and other related matters,\u201d Planas added.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also discussed cooperation in animal health, as well as several matters related to plant health, which are essential for both countries,\u201d Planas said while underlining the importance of the upcoming Morocco-Spain High-Level Meeting.<\/p>\n
The meeting is expected to result in the signing of several agricultural, agri-food, and fisheries memorandums of understanding aimed at enhancing the institutional and operational framework of the bilateral partnership.<\/p>\n
Planas stressed that the two countries share numerous areas of cooperation and a common forward-looking vision in addressing shared challenges, including those related to climate, water management, food safety, and broader agricultural production conditions.<\/p>\n
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 122nd session of the International Olive Council, which brought together delegations from 45 member countries in celebration of World Olive Day.<\/p>\n
