{"id":583009,"date":"2025-11-20T17:57:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T17:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/583009\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T17:57:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T17:57:12","slug":"kobi-crolla-to-switch-on-christmas-lights-at-edinburgh-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/583009\/","title":{"rendered":"Kobi Crolla to switch on Christmas lights at Edinburgh hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Kobi Crolla has been chosen to switch on the Christmas lights at Edinburgh\u2019s Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP) on Sunday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The one-year-old was born in July last year at 29 weeks, weighing just 3.3lbs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Since then, he has suffered a grade 4 brain bleed, a collapsed lung, undergone 16 operations and been diagnosed with hydrocephalus \u2013 a dangerous build-up of fluid on the brain.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastlothiancourier.com\/news\/24973068.seven-month-old-baby-kobi-hibernians-lucky-charm\/?ref=ed_direct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>READ MORE: Seven-month-old baby Kobi is Hibernian&#8217;s lucky charm<\/strong><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  His mum, Kirsty Grandison, told the Courier that it was eight days before she got a first cuddle with him.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  She said: \u201cIt felt like a miracle.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cStill, the battles kept coming.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cKobi developed meningitis.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cEach day brought a new fear: blood transfusions, lumbar punctures, MRIs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cHe was having up to 10 seizures a day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Daniel Crolla and Kirsty Grandison alongside Kobi (Image: Contributed)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWe were always panicked, always so scared for him.
