{"id":583195,"date":"2025-11-20T19:59:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T19:59:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/583195\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T19:59:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T19:59:25","slug":"gaza-needs-a-security-architecture-after-ceasefire-german-foreign-minister-says-middle-east-monitor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/583195\/","title":{"rendered":"Gaza needs a \u2018security architecture\u2019 after ceasefire, German foreign minister says \u2013 Middle East Monitor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gaza needs a \u201csecurity architecture\u201d after the ceasefire and the EU can provide stronger support for implementing the plan, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said on Thursday, Anadolu reports.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters in Brussels ahead of an EU foreign ministers meeting, Wadephul said they would discuss the situation in the Middle East and the EU\u2019s contribution to the Gaza peace plan, among other international topics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need a security architecture for the Gaza Strip that includes an international stabilization force and Palestinian police officers, both now legitimized by the recently adopted UN Security Council resolution,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeastmonitor.com\/20251117-germany-lifts-restrictions-on-arms-exports-to-israel-spokesman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Germany lifts restrictions on arms exports to Israel: Spokesman<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The foreign minister reiterated Germany\u2019s strong support for US President Donald Trump\u2019s Gaza ceasefire plan, noting that it long advocated for a UN Security Council resolution to strengthen the plan\u2019s legal foundation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain ready to provide practical support. This means that the existing EU missions can be activated and strengthened,\u201d he said, referring to the EU\u2019s police and border-security missions in the region. \u201cWe also need close cooperation with Israel. I have discussed this with my Israeli counterpart on several occasions.
