No matter the time of year, pet owners will tell you that there’s no greater feeling than a hug or snuggle with a beloved animal companion.<\/p>\n

And if you’re looking for a four-legged friend to complete your family, be it a dog<\/a> or a cat, then Bristol Animal Rescue Centre<\/a> currently has some residents who could be just what you’re looking for. Some have been waiting to be adopted for 12 months, eagerly awaiting their future forever families to walk through the door and pick them.<\/p>\n

Jo Jo\"JoJo Jo is looking for her forever home right now(Image: Bristol Animal Rescue Centre)<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>13 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Domestic short-haired<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Jo Jo is a 13 year old cat who came into the centre’s care after her beloved owner became unwell. She cannot live with other cats or children aged under 12 and is looking for a retirement home with cosy laps to lie on.<\/p>\n

Peaches\"PeachesPeaches is looking for her forever home right now(Image: Bristol Animal Rescue Centre)<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>11 years, 9 months<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Husky<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Peaches is a gentle introvert looking for adopters who understand the quirky personalities of huskies. She cannot live with cats or children under the age of 12. Being an older dog, she does get tired after a short play or walk, so doesn’t need lots of exercise.<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Crossbreed<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Nessa adores her people and would happily spend all day cuddled up with them. She gets very attached and will likely need some support with separation anxiety and, due to her very sheltered start in life, will need adopters who can continue building her skills and confidence. She can live with other dogs and is happy to live with children above the age of 16.<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>American Bulldog<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Despite Ginger’s size, he still thinks he’s a lap dog, and is described as a big, handsome older boy with a gentle heart and a love of cuddles. He’s happiest around people pottering about the home, soaking up affection and curling up for a snooze. He can live with other dogs and children over the age of 10.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>2 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Lurcher<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Gilbert is a sweet dog looking for a new home with a big cosy sofa for cuddles and lots of time and patience for his training needs. He can live with other dogs and children above the age of 10. He arrived into ARC’s care as a transfer from Bath<\/a>, where he was found as a stray.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>6 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Crossbreed<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Little Coco has been searching for her home for almost a year now and is described as a clever, active companion, always up for an adventure, and who loves showing off her obedience skills. She is said to ‘thrive’ when she has a job to do and loves to learn, and would be best suited to a household with no cats or children under 12.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>6 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Shar pei<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Gary is another former stray and forms strong bonds, meaning he most likely has some level of separation anxiety, which his future family will need to help him overcome. He’ll also need an owner who is home most of the day and has access to a secure garden with high boundaries. A home with other animals isn’t suitable, but he will be able to live with children above the age of 16.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>8 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Yorkshire terrier<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Cody is described as a happy chap looking for somewhere to be himself. He won’t be suitable for homes with other animals, or young children, but does like to be in the company of people. A secure, private garden where he can enjoy a good sunbathe and play with toys is a must for Cody.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>4 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Pomeranian<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Maya has been described by ARC staff as ‘a weird and wonderful puff ball’. She loves to zoom around, is full of energy and loves food – so is willing to do anything for some snacks. Her big coat means she requires regular grooming and, due to her former life as a stray, she can take a while to warm up to new people. A home without other animals or young children would be best for Maya.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>10 months<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Crossbreed<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Nala is a young dog with a lot of energy. She is suitable for a home with other dogs and older children (12+) and is described as a very swee-natured dog that has lots of energy and loves to play. She’ll thrive in a more experienced home, preferably in a rural location, with adopters who can give her ongoing training and care.<\/p>\n

Age: <\/strong>1.5 years<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Border Collie<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Peggy is a three-legged, loyal and loving companion, staff say. She’s looking for an adult-only home, with no cats and a family who can give her time, patience and a calm environment to feel safe. Peggy is another in this list that was found as a stray and she currently finds unfamiliar people, handling and noisy environments worrying. But she loves enrichment and playing with her toys, despite only having three legs.<\/p>\n

Breed: <\/strong>Jack Russell<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Buddy is described as a special boy in need of love, patience and a warm lap. He is looking for an adult-only home with no cats and owners who can support him through his worries. Being a young dog with very little experience of the world, he has some special requirements – one being that he needs to be the only dog in the home and have plenty of care from his new family.<\/p>\n

What you need to know: <\/strong>Brandi is looking for an adult-only home, with no other animals and preferably someone who is at home in the day.
