{"id":584945,"date":"2025-11-21T15:21:35","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T15:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/584945\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T15:21:35","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T15:21:35","slug":"ex-salford-red-devils-chief-returns-to-sport-after-quitting-club-and-making-ownership-accusations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/584945\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Salford Red Devils chief returns to sport after quitting club and making ownership accusations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/PC3_7919-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment- size- wp-post-image\" alt=\"Salford Red Devils\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p><strong>Former Salford Red Devils chief operating officer Claire Bradbury has returned to sport after taking up a role with Manchester Basketball.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bradbury spent just over a year in the role at Salford, having previously worked with Sale Sharks, Asics and Reebok, but she departed in August with a statement which made some serious accusations against the current owners of the club.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s her first role since leaving the Red Devils and it\u2019s one that sees her take charge of an organisation on the rise, with the Manchester Basketball men\u2019s team competing on the European stage for the first time, while both the men and the women have spots in Super League Basketball.<\/p>\n<p>Bradbury will be hoping her new job goes a lot smoother than her previous one amid Salford\u2019s unpaid wages, financial uncertainty and on field struggles.<\/p>\n<p>However, when announcing her departure from the club, she wrote on her LinkedIn to claim the owners had used misogynistic and inappropriate language towards her. She went on to add that those in charge of the club had suggested she sleep with someone from the governing body to \u2018smooth things over\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>A snippet of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriousaboutrl.com\/rugby-league-news-salford-red-devils-resigns-and-makes-misogynistic-language-claim-about-owners-107360\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her departing message<\/a> read: \u201cIt\u2019s important to share something more personal, as a senior woman in business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMisogynistic, inappropriate language from the ownership suggesting I sleep with an individual at the RFL to \u2018smooth things over\u2019 is not acceptable. At the time I stayed quiet because I wanted the Club to succeed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m disappointed in myself that I didn\u2019t stand up to it then so I\u2019m voicing it now as it should be heard for the integrity and evolution of rugby league, and for all women who work in sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to the accusations, Salford released the following statement: \u201cIt has been alleged by a former member of the Salford Red Devils staff, who departed the club on 12 August 2025, that she was subjected to inappropriate verbal conduct by the owners of the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSalford Red Devils unequivocally condemns any and all forms of inappropriate language and behaviour. We treat such allegations with the utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring that our club environment remains respectful, professional, and safe for all members of staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn response to these allegations, we will be conducting a thorough internal investigation.
