Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly has called out social media users who have subjected her to \u201csick attacks\u201d.<\/p>\n
Posting online she shared screenshots of posts with a person saying \u201ctake cancer and die\u201d.<\/p>\n
In my role as your deputy First Minister I face big and often tricky political issues, big challenges and the task of delivery in Government. I don’t bring too much of that on to Facebook and social media.<\/p>\n
On my social media, I genuinely try and bring a positivity and promote all that is great about Lagan Valley, promote local events and organisations and to champion Northern Ireland. I strive to update you as often as I can – just so incredibly proud of all the amazing work out and about.<\/p>\n
There are always some nasty comments despite the content of what I post, but some absolutely cross the line. This is NEVER acceptable. The very small minority that engage in this, names and hiding are disgusting. #Call It Out<\/p>\n
I will never stop the positivity. I will never stop being a champion for Lagan Valley and for Northern Ireland. Sick attacks like this will never succeed.<\/p>\n
People responded by condemning the abuse.<\/p>\n
One person said: \u201cAbsolutely disgraceful for anyone to receive those types of comments, everyday life is filled with disagreements but there is a right and wrong way to express them.<\/p>\n
