The Duchess of Edinburgh<\/a> gave a speech on behalf of The King during an official visit to Belize and, for her busy visit, she returned to a royal footwear staple – her espadrille wedges. The style is also a favourite of The Princess of Wales<\/a>, and both royals have worn them to a number of events. <\/p>\n

The Duchess spent time with a number of organisations during her days in Belize, and the Royal Family shared a selection of photographs from the visit. <\/p>\n

While it may be getting increasingly chilly in the UK, Sophie was able to enjoy much warmer climes while she was away, and relied on her wardrobe lynchpins – midi dresses. She can be seen wearing her cream espadrille wedges, which are a reliable ‘go-with-anything’ pair of shoes for almost any event throughout spring and summer. The Duchess of Edinburgh often wears a pair by Penelope Chilvers, while The Princess of Wales is frequently spotted in pairs by Spanish brand Casta\u00f1er. <\/p>\n

While in Belize, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh was entrusted to deliver a speech from King Charles. ‘This beautiful jewel of a nation sits at the intersection of a myriad of ecosystems and habitats,’ she said on his behalf. ‘I am enormously impressed by the efforts, so enthusiastically undertaken by the people of Belize, in preserving and protecting their forests, flora and fauna through Indigenous knowledge, traditional techniques and shared cultural expertise.’<\/p>\n

During the visit, Sophie joined workshops with the San Antonio Women\u2019s Cooperative, joined the Garifuna community to celebrate their annual Settlement Day celebration, and visited the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired.<\/p>\n
