The UK is pretty great, if you ask us.\u00a0We\u2019ve got\u00a0gorgeous seaside towns<\/a>, magnificent national parks<\/a>, breathtaking\u00a0landscapes<\/a>\u00a0and thriving, world-leading cities. Of course,\u00a0here at Time Out UK we may be a little biased, but we promise that it\u2019s not just us that thinks so highly of this little island. In fact three of our metropolises have just been crowned among the best in the world by a Canadian company Resonance Consultancy. And one was named the greatest on the planet.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

Every year, Resonance Consultancy unveils its comprehensive World\u2019s Best Cities ranking. It evaluates cities based on three broad measures, which each\u00a0consist of a bunch of subcategories. There\u2019s \u2018liveability\u2019, which\u00a0looks at\u00a0stuff like air quality, rent prices and green spaces, \u2018lovability\u2019 which assesses nightlife, restaurants and social media engagement, and \u2018prosperity\u2019 which covers rates of unemployment, educational attainment and GDP per capita.<\/p>\n

For\u00a0an unbelievable\u00a011th year in a row, the survey named\u00a0London<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0the best city on the globe.\u00a0Resonance\u00a0lauded it as the \u2018capital of capitals\u2019 and said that its \u2018magnetic appeal continues to draw a global audience, from students and entrepreneurs to tourists and corporate titans\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Big Smoke came first\u00a0in the world in the\u00a0prosperity category, second for lovability and third for liveability. It\u00a0secured the number one spot in 34 of the study\u2019s subcategories, including\u00a0airports and the number of large companies looking to invest in the city. And it earned extra praise for its ever-changing skyline and for being in \u2018a state of constant reinvention\u2019. You can read more about why London was crowned the top dog here<\/a>. The next highest ranking UK city on this year\u2019s list was Manchester<\/a><\/strong>, which came in a respectable 69th place (especially since it didn\u2019t make the cut in 2024<\/a>). Its best categories were \u2018climate risk\u2019 (for which it ranked\u00a0ninth) and airports (12th place).\u00a0Resonance called it \u2018England\u2019s worker bee city\u2019 and noted that it\u2019s \u2018shifting into high gear across both culture and development\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Resonance spotlighted Manc\u2019s new\u00a0Co-op Live arena, which is the largest indoor arena in Europe and attracted one million fans in less than a year, the regeneration project planned for\u00a0Old Trafford stadium and\u00a0Victoria North, a 15,000-home redevelopment north of the city centre expected to \u2018bring new communities\u2019 from 2027.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a><\/strong> was the third and final British city on the ranking, just scraping\u00a0in at number 99. Resonance said that Brum is \u2018blending history with fresh ambition\u2019 and highlighted exciting\u00a0new additions\u00a0to the city, like the 51-storey One Eastside,\u00a0the 49-story Octagon skyscraper and the upcoming Eastside Metro tram extension. It also happens to be home to Time Out\u2019s coolest UK neighbourhood<\/a> outside of London for 2025: Digbeth<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
