{"id":586484,"date":"2025-11-22T09:17:28","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T09:17:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/586484\/"},"modified":"2025-11-22T09:17:28","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T09:17:28","slug":"dave-gallaher-the-donegal-born-captain-of-new-zealands-all-blacks-originals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/586484\/","title":{"rendered":"Dave Gallaher: The Donegal-born captain of New Zealand&#8217;s All Blacks Originals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Fitzpatrick was in County Donegal for the special ceremony at Dave Gallaher Park in Ramelton for an exchange of soil to mark Gallaher&#8217;s &#8220;homecoming&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He described the player as the &#8220;original All Black&#8221;, a moniker a monument in Ramelton also attributes to him. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;What he did in terms of the Boer War, World War One and leading that great Originals All Blacks,&#8221; Fitzpatrick said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Just what he instilled in that All Black jersey in terms of the humility. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The legacy is so important to us, the legacy of the jersey is more intimidating than any opposition and that&#8217;s because of Dave Gallaher.
