One woman has been robbed and another assaulted after they were followed to a property after getting off a bus in north Belfast. <\/p>\n

One suspect has been arrested following the incident which happened on Friday night. <\/p>\n

The women exited a public transport vehicle in the Kinnaird Street area of the city shortly before 10.30pm \u2013 they were then followed by a male. <\/p>\n

PSNI Sergeant Beacom said: \u201cWhen trying to enter her property, the male approached and assaulted one of the women, before stealing the other victim’s handbag and making off.\u201d<\/p>\n

A suspect was located a short time later and arrested on suspicion of common assault and robbery.<\/p>\n

“While on route to custody, the man assaulted a police officer and caused damage to the interior and exterior of the police car.<\/p>\n

“He was further arrested on suspicion of assault on police, possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class C controlled drug and criminal damage.<\/p>\n
