Others did too. But they weren\u2019t good enough as the Kiwis clicked into gear in the. second half and blew their hosts away.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 26-52 New Zealand (Clarke, 79)<\/p>\n Clarke has another! <\/strong>Too easy again. Llewellyn misses his tackle in the 13 channel and that usually leads to trouble. Faingaanuku\u2019s line-break opened the space and a nifty one-handed off-load for Clarke in support on the right is all she wrote. Stunning finish in the corner by a flying LRZ who was totally off the ground and parallel with the ground as he reached out and dotted down in the corner under pressure. Great patience before that from the Welsh as they went more than 11 phases to score more than 25 points against the Kiwis for the first time in their history. Wales get a penalty after a man in black loses his bearings at the breakdown. Evans, on for Edwards, kicks to the corner. Welsh line-out about eight metres out.<\/p>\n Wales have never scored more than 25 points against New Zealand. It\u2019ll be a pretty poor consolation prize but it\u2019ll be something.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 73 min: <\/strong>As expected Plumtree\u2019s yellow will remain as it is. He\u2019s been punished enough as NZ scored a try while he was in the naughty corner. An All Black knock-on on halfway means we\u2019ll get going again with a Welsh scrum.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! SIDESTEP! <\/strong>The try was inevitable after McKenzie spotted the space to his right and flung the pass, but the ball found open ground which meant Reece had to turn and regather before facing the right way again. By the time he did he had a defender in red chasing him down. Not that it mattered. With a shimmy and a wriggle, he was round the tackler as if he were a mannequin. It was high but I\u2019d be shocked if this is upgraded. First contact was with Jordan\u2019s chest as far as I could tell.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 68 min: <\/strong>Wales stray offside so McKenzie has a chance to try something funky. He goes searching for open space behind Edwards but there\u2019s nothin\u2019 doin\u2019 so we\u2019ll come back for the pen. The TMO wants a look at a possible high shot from Plumtree on Jordan.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 67 min: <\/strong>It\u2019s all coming undone for Wales now. After spilling the line-out they then concede a penalty at the scrum. McKenzie, who has not put a foot wrong all day, nudges it upfield for a line-out.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 64 min: <\/strong>They call those coach killers. Beard is lifted at the line-out but spills it as he tries to haul it down with one hand. How frustrating!<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 62 min: <\/strong>Wales get a line-out inside NZ\u2019s patch. They simply have. to score from here. Hawkins floats one over the top for LRZ. He makes good ground with a slick step around Clarke on the right wing. Needs more of the ball does the former NFL rookie. Deaves does likewise and Wales eke out a penalty. Edwards kicks it out inside NZ\u2019s 22.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 21-38 New Zealand (Reece, 60)<\/p>\n Is that the killer blow? <\/strong>From the line-out off the penalty, New Zealand stayed patient. They snaked to the left with Taukei\u2019aho coming close. Christie and McKenzie then shifted and went back down the right. They simply had to keep the ball alive and they did that to perfection. Reece, on for Love, was waiting patiently and had a simple run-in. McKenzie slots another brilliant conversion. He has been magnificent off the tee.<\/p>\n Sevu Reece dives over at the corner. Left and then they come back right with a McKenzie cross-kick. Wales holding on. twelve phases. They\u2019ve been pushed back. Christie, on for Ratima, is keeping things ticking. Still they come. 17 phases and finally a penalty for an illegal tackle.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 55 min: <\/strong>NZ are back inside Wales\u2019 22 and are starting to turn the screw. Wales infringe at the breakdown twce and Lake once again gets a talking to. McKenzie nudges it out for a line-out within five metres of the Welsh line.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 21-31 New Zealand (Ione, 52)<\/p>\n After two chalked-off tries, New Zealand finally have the ball down! <\/strong>McKenzie\u2019s cross-field kick from left to right was meant for Jordan, but the ball bounced and landed in Ione\u2019s bread basket. He had to turn his back and show great strength to power over the tackle of Edwards. He did just that, grounding the ball to stretch the All Blacks\u2019 lead. McKenzie hoists a high cross kick from left to right for Jordan. The ball bounces but Ione gathers and forces his way over in the corner. Did he get it down? Looks like it but they want another glance. Did Edwards force the knock-on?<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n No they don\u2019t! <\/strong>Jordan was adjusged to have grounded it by Davidson but the ball was held up! All going on! This game has become absolutely mad! Wales hold on. Three point game.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 49 min:<\/strong> Now they have their try! <\/strong>Or do they? Jordan is over the line but they\u2019re looking again. Was the ball grounded? The try was awarded on the field but the TMO wants another look. It\u2019s all happening.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>NO TRY! Wales 21-24 New Zealand<\/p>\n 48 min: <\/strong>The ball is spilled forward on the ground as Kirifi tried to place it backwards. But Plumtree was in an off-side position as he made things awkward a the back of that breakdown so NZ have the penalty. Wales not off the hook as McKenzie kicks it out for a line-out within range.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n HANG ON! <\/strong>Was there a knock-on in the build up? Oh there might be. They\u2019re having a look.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRIES!! Rogers hat-trick, but then Clarke strikes<\/p>\n TRY! Wales 21-24 New Zealand (Rogers, 42)<\/strong><\/p>\n Rogers has a hat-trick against the All Blacks! It\u2019s Jenkins who charges down a kick to win possession. The big lock then wins a ball in the air to give his team front-foot ball. From there it\u2019s slick hands with hawkins unfurling a brilliant pass that took out two NZ defenders. A simple final shovel to Rogers finds the winger along down the left. A step off his left foot and he\u2019s over the line to become the first Welshman to bag three tries against the mighty All Blacks!<\/p>\n TRY! Wales 21-29 New Zealand (Clarke, 47)<\/strong><\/p>\n New Zealand hit back again! <\/strong>These two teams are trading tries. After hammering the line and stacking up more than a dozen phases, New Zealand go left down the line. A great pass finds Clarke waiting patiently on the left wing and he easily \u2013 far too easily \u2013 brushes off three Welsh defenders as he scores.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a011.38 EST<\/p>\n The players are back out there.<\/strong><\/p>\n Wales had a lot of joy when they launched contestable kicks into New Zealand\u2019s back-field. And the All Blacks were clinical when they were able to keep hold of the ball.<\/p>\n That surely means we\u2019ll see Wales try and pin the Kiwis down in their own patch. How long can they sustain that? They\u2019re also on thin ice at the breakdown. Davidson is close to showing someone in red a yellow card.<\/p>\n Let\u2019s see how it plays out.<\/p>\n Away we go!<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Half-time: Wales 14-22 New Zealand<\/p>\n A weird half. <\/strong>Mostly it was pretty average but we\u2019ve had five tries, including four really good ones. A handful of standout performers, including Rogers on the Welsh left wing who bagged a brace, made up for the rest of them.<\/p>\n Wales have hung in there and perhaps should have added one more given the number of times they entered the NZ red zone. The All Blacks weren\u2019t at their best but were good enough.<\/p>\n We\u2019ll be back soon.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 40 min: <\/strong>Wales give away possession as Lake doesn\u2019t throw straight at the line-out. NZ have a scrum and then a free-kick. Rather than kick it out they run from their own half. Ratima knocks on so that\u2019ll be that.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 14-24 New Zealand (Williams, 38)<\/p>\n The big fella is over! <\/strong>NZ go short at the line-out. Wales sack the maul legally but there is no stopping the mighty Williams from close range. He was aided as Plumtree shot out a little early and had to backtrack as he would have been off-side. That meant that there was a slight imbalance in the defensive line and with two teammates behind him, Williams monstered over. McKenzie\u2019s radar remains accurate and he bags another two points from close to the left touchline.<\/p>\n Tamaiti Williams bulldozes through. They don\u2019t do much with it. The Welsh line holds. Three times Sititi carries and goes nowhere. The ball is eventually spilled so NZ will have the ball but that should be considered a moral win for Wales. They stood their ground against multiple black waves.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 35 min: <\/strong>Plumtree spills the restart, handing NZ a scrum inside the Welsh 22.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 12-17 New Zealand (Rogers, 33)<\/p>\n They hit back again! <\/strong>Wow, Rogers has a double! Persistent kicks into the backfield are causing NZ all sorts of problems. Williams with a delightful dink puts the Kiwis under pressure. Murray gathered, they kept it alive and Rogers was waiting on the left wing to strike. Edwards slots a tricky conversion and they\u2019re back to within three.<\/p>\n More smiles for Tom Rogers as he scores again! Under pressure, NZ clear from close to their own line. Wales get the line-out and now have a penalty. Murray is close\u2026.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 7-17 New Zealand (Love, 29)<\/p>\n Like a bolt from the blue! <\/strong>Where did that come from? It felt too easy. After the goal-line drop-out, Sitit charged forward and won the collision, giving NZ front-foot ball. Still, Love\u2019s xT (is expected tries a thing?) would have been very low when he received a pass flat-footed on Wales\u2019 22. He shimmied, side-stepped and then bolted ahead, sliding under the poles before anyone could stop him. McKenzie\u2019s easy conversion opens up a 10 point lead.<\/p>\n Ruben Love dives over for New Zealands second try. Murray lifts a high kick that tests Clarke. The Kiwi winger does brilliantly in the air. A long kick goes a little too long so Wales get a goal-line drop put. Sititi gathers the restart and charges into contact, winning the collision.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 25 min: <\/strong>New Zealand have been far from their best. They win a line-out through Holland after a penalty, and inch forward. But soon after they spill the ball in contact.<\/p>\n Hate to say it but beyond two flashes for the two early tries, this has been a pretty stodgy game. Very end of season feel to it.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 23 min: <\/strong>Taukei\u2019aho runs over Rees-Zammit on the left wing, leaving the Welsh flyer on his backside. NZ come forward, McKenzie finds Jordan with a delicious short pass but the Kiwi winger is flattened in the tackle. They\u2019ll come back for a penalty so the All Blacks will build again in midfield. Another penalty. That\u2019s four in a row against Wales. Davidson wants a word with Lake after blowing her whistle. A team warning. Next one will go to the bin.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 21 min: <\/strong>AAAAAH! Oh man, they were so close. The line-out didn\u2019t go according to plan but Rees-Zammit made some yards from broken play. Then Carre found a short pass around a corner and came within metres of the line. But he was isolated and easily picked off on the ground under the shade of the NZ poles. Penalty to the All Blacks and Wales once again leave the red zone with no points to show.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 19 min: <\/strong>Penalty for Wales as Barrett is pinged for illegally infringing at the line-out. A brilliant kick from Edwards will give his team the throw inside NZ\u2019s 22. Can Wales do something with their opportunity this time?<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 17 min: <\/strong>Some kick tennis ends with McKenzie winning that particular rally, finding touch inside Wales\u2019 half. This time the line-out is long and finds Plumtree on the gallop. A high kick causes chaos, and a NZ knock-on, so Wales are on the ball. Not for long. They kick away possession and now have to throw to the line back inside their own half after a long touch-finder from Ratima. Seems every time Wales get a chance to do something they\u2019re blowing it. New Zealand aren\u2019t bossing it. They\u2019ve not left second gear to be honest. But Wales aren\u2019t making them pay.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 15 min: <\/strong>Now a penalty for Wales after NZ failed to let go of the tackled player on the floor. It\u2019s on halfway so Edwards hoofs it out inside the AB\u2019s 22. Can they work something from this line-out?<\/p>\n No! Barrett climbs highest and pinches the ball. The long raking kick puts Rees-Zammit inside his 22 and he has no choice but to go to the boot. A wasted opportunity for Wales.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Penalty! Wales 7-10 New Zealand (McKenzie, 13)<\/p>\n New Zealand nudge in front thanks to a gimme penalty from D-Mac. <\/strong><\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 12 min: <\/strong>Plumtree loses his feet at the breakdown following a strong carry from Deaves after the restart. It\u2019s bang in front of the poles. That\u2019s soft from the Welsh after drawing level.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>TRY! Wales 7-7 New Zealand (Rogers, 10)<\/p>\n Wales hit back! <\/strong>It started with a brilliant catch of a high ball by. Rees-Zammit who beat McKenzie in the air. That got Wales on the front foot and they just needed to show composure. Didn\u2019t they just?! Edwards produced a stiff arm to fend off a tackler and the unfurled a little off-load that found Rogers on the left wing. The speedster skipped round the covering tackle and dotted down. Edwards dusted himself off to land the conversion from the tram to bring us level again. Great score from the home side.<\/p>\n Tom Rogers with a smile before touching down! Wales 0-7 New Zealand (Clarke, 5)<\/p>\n Too easy, too accurate, too slick! <\/strong>The line-out is won by Holland and they hammer close to the breakdown for a series of big carries down the blind. Then they pull the trigger after six phases, going through the hands before finding Clarke prowling on the left wing. He\u2019s got too much pace and runs in for a simple score. Great. line by Ioane in midfield but the Welsh defence was simply not there.<\/p>\n McKenzie adds the extras from out left.<\/p>\n Caleb Clarke beats the challenge to score. Ominous. The big prop never got back behind the gainline so gives away a soft penalty. McKenzie nudges it downfield for a line-out just short of the 22.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 2 min: <\/strong>Rogers hoists a high kick that is fielded in the backfield by the ABs. There is loads of smoke in the air from the pyrotechnics before kick-off. NZ run it from deep going coast to coast. It\u2019s scrappy but they keep the ball until Ratima hoofs it from the back of a ruck. A proper chance to make a name.<\/p>\n Hollie Davidson becomes the first female referee to take charge of an All Blacks game.<\/p>\n She blasts her whistle and they\u2019re off!<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 120 years on from the first time the Welsh anthem was sung before a rugby match \u2013 incidentally against New Zealand \u2013 they\u2019ve done it again.<\/strong><\/p>\n That was special. Really, really special. In a competitive field I reckon the Welsh anthem is the best in rugby.<\/p>\n The All Blacks perform the Haka under the spotlight.
