\u2018Entitled\u2019 Instagram<\/a> users tore down a 500-year-old castle wall in the Scottish Highlands so they could avoid getting their feet wet.<\/p>\n A community organisation in Sutherland has accused tourists of \u2018ripping down\u2019 a wall that\u2019s part of Ardvreck Castle.<\/p>\n Officials said the historic structure was ruined so that tourists could clear a path that would allow them to see the castle and get a good photo without getting their feet soggy from the wet sand.<\/p>\n The local group, called Historic Assynt, said in a Facebook<\/a> post that the incident was \u2018truly unbelievable, but it happened\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a><\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n The statement <\/a>said: \u2018Some special individuals decided when the water was over the beach area, rather than get their little tootsies wet, they would rip down a 500-year-old wall to make a path for themselves.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018Truly unbelievable, but it happened.\u2019<\/p>\n The group said the wall has been repaired slightly and are taking donations.<\/p>\n \u2018If you are planning a holiday and want to clamber over an ancient monument for that Instagram pic, please don\u2019t!\u2019 Historic Assynt added.<\/p>\n \u2018This is our history and every time someone clambers all over it, a little more of it crumbles away. <\/p>\n \u2018Individually, it might be small amounts but collectively Assynt\u2019s history is disappearing.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t This hasn\u2019t been the first case of vandalism.
