Sony is letting the likes of Saros<\/a>, Marvel’s Wolverine<\/a>, and Marvel Tokon<\/a> headline its 2026 output on PS5, and is leaving the next Naughty Dog game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet<\/a>, until 2027, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier claims.<\/p>\n

Earlier this weekend, rumours of Intergalactic appearing at The Game Awards next month did the rounds on the back of comments from Sacred Symbols<\/a> host Colin Moriarty.<\/p>\n

He said that what he has been hearing from those on the inside of the project suggests the PS5 title is already content complete and could release next year.<\/p>\n

The claims made their way to Reddit, and Jason Schreier has quickly shut them down, stating: “Can assure you that Intergalactic is not coming out in 2026.” He then refutes the idea that Intergalactic is further into development than expected, suggesting Naughty Dog still has a long way to go on production.<\/p>\n

Further to this, Giant Bomb member Jeff Grubb posted on social media<\/a>: “It will not be shown at The Game Awards,” in response to a tweet claiming it will be.<\/p>\n

It’s true Naughty Dog has been on a hiring spree<\/a> as of late, but this does not necessarily suggest the project is close to launch \u2014 even if the positions are about cleaning up and improving final content for the game.<\/p>\n

Schreier adds in a later post: “I can assure you that Intergalactic isn’t coming out in 2026 because people familiar with the game’s development timeline have told me that it is not coming out in 2026.”<\/p>\n

Of course, the suggestion of a release in 2027 opens Intergalactic up to launching in the same year as the PS6, as rumours have tagged the next-gen console with a release then. It wouldn’t be the first time Naughty Dog has done such a thing. The Last of Us<\/a> released for PS3 the same year the PS4 came out, and it did the same thing for The Last of Us 2<\/a>, just prior to the PS5’s launch.<\/p>\n
