Stand-up comedian Russell Kane has revealed that he’s been to Ibiza three times this year with his wife, with them dropping their daughter off at school and heading to the airport<\/p>\n

Stand-up comic Russell Kane<\/a> couldn\u2019t be busier with tour dates, presenting gigs and the school pick-up to do. However, the 50-year-old admits that he always makes time to go raving with his wife in Ibiza several times a year – even if it\u2019s just for 24 hours.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been with my wife three times this year,\u201d he tells us. \u201cI love raving. It can\u2019t be a midlife crisis if I\u2019ve just continued to do it.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and my wife one morning dropped our daughter off at school, kissed her at the school gates and then ran to the airport,\u201d he adds. \u201cLanded at 2pm, got a bit tipsy in the pool, went to the nightclub, danced till 7am, slept until 2pm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we\u2019re back home at 8pom for story time so all we missed was the school run the next morning and dinner the night before when she was with her nana so it\u2019s guilt free.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian shares 10-year-old Mina with his wife, wellness entrepreneur Lindsey Cole, who he married in 2014. \u201cWe\u2019re very lucky because we live up north so we have amazing built-in help with our family. Her parents really support us,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

After 11 years of marriage, Russell says that communication is key for him and Lindsey. \u201cLindsey and me – we\u2019re still obsessed with each other,\u201d he admits. \u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong – at the moment, it\u2019s tough. I\u2019m working long hours, it produces stress.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can be almost in tears but I\u2019ve said yes to a job and I know I need to do it. Then I\u2019m struggling because of the trains and all the travelling. We\u2019re not living in paradise but we always come through because we communicate so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, the couple are still \u201ctearing each other\u2019s clothes off\u201d. He says: \u201cWe s**g all the time. It cannot be undervalued, sex between a couple. We live in an intimacy recession<\/a> – \u2018We\u2019ve been together for three years, obviously we don\u2019t have sex anymore.\u2019 You\u2019re no longer in a relationship. If you\u2019re bored of each other, bring novelty into the bedroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need to go to the furthest end of what you\u2019re both comfortable with to stimulate that erotic part of you. As long as you both consent and communicate clearly. You should be tearing each other\u2019s clothes off 24-7.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russell is coming to the end of his longest tour yet, having been on the road for 18 months. However, he doesn\u2019t believe that \u2018woke culture\u2019 has impacted the comedy scene.<\/p>\n

In fact, he says that those who are willing to \u201coffend a minority group\u201d are proving to be successful these days. \u201cI don\u2019t know a comedian who\u2019s been cancelled for doing comedy,\u201d he says. \u201cIf only I was brave enough to say some slightly more outrageous and hurtful things, I\u2019d probably be number one on Netflix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not my type of comedy but my point is, I think there\u2019s more freedom of speech now than there was.\u201d As for \u2018woke culture\u2019, he adds: \u201cIt\u2019s such a weird<\/a> word because the opposite of woke is asleep. I don\u2019t want to be asleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust because I recognise that someone of colour has had a different life journey to me – I\u2019m not woke, I\u2019m just not f**king ignorant. It\u2019s ignorance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian is teaming up with This Morning<\/a>\u2019s Sian Welby<\/a> to host ITV<\/a>\u2019s The Spin Off – a new free-to-play quiz app that gives players the chance to win various prizes. It\u2019s the perfect challenge for the secret quizzer – who has previously won Celebrity Mastermind, Beat the Chasers and The Weakest Link. \u201cI train like a boxer because my stand-up is incredibly energetic – I got to 35 and thought, \u2018How can I slow down aging?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daily regime is 60 minutes while quizzes are playing. I\u2019ll put The Chase on or The 1% Club. I\u2019m training my mind and body like some sort of renaissance man.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds that it\u2019s his \u201cdream\u201d to become a Chaser – much like Joe Pasquale recently did on Beat the Chasers. \u201cI\u2019d love to go up to the level where I could be a Chaser,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m currently learning how to speak Shakesperean verse properly because of my aspirations to act. My tour finishes in December – the longest tour I\u2019ve ever done – and I want to do something completely different with my life next year. Stage-wise, I\u2019m gonna thesp it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having turned 50 earlier this year, Russell lives by \u201cfive pillars of wellness\u201d to stay healthy: avoiding processed foods, exercising, minimising stress, strengthening relationships and taking evidence-based supplements.<\/p>\n

The comic isn\u2019t afraid to cut out friends who are a \u201cdrain\u201d on his energy. \u201cA lot of us spend our lives hanging around with drains because we\u2019ve been friends with them for years and we feel bad, but it\u2019s time to say, \u2018bye t**t,\u2019 and get that toxicity out of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Russell admits that he has a small group of friends and family anyway. \u201cPeople tend to cut me off because I work so hard,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m very friendly with celebrity types but I\u2019ve kept my friends from home, my mum, my wife and my daughter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat probably holds me back in showbiz. I\u2019ve not fallen out of clubs with the right people but I can\u2019t help it. I\u2019m so unavailable because I\u2019m working so much – any spare time I\u2019ve got goes on my daughter, my wife and whatever\u2019s left over goes on my mum, my brother who\u2019s not very well and then the rest of my mates.\u201d<\/p>\n
