A 68-year-old driver has been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a crash on Old Kent Road<\/a> on Friday (November 21). Police are appealing to the public for more information on the incident.<\/p>\n

He was arrested by police a short while later on suspicion of dangerous driving, after he \u201cfailed to stop\u201d at the scene of the incident. He has been released on bail while police carry out enquiries.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old cyclist was killed after a car collided with him on Old Kent Road, near the junction with Dunton Road at around 6.55am. He was treated at the scene before he sadly died.<\/p>\n

His next of kin have been informed, and are being supported by specially-trained officers.<\/p>\n

Detective Sergeant Rob Groombridge, from the Met\u2019s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “An investigation is underway, and officers are working to establish what happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or who may have captured footage of it on their dashcam, to please contact us as soon as possible.”<\/p>\n
