Mr. Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. The overview of the meeting is as follows.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1. At the beginning, Prime Minister Takaichi stressed the increasing importance of cooperation with Germany, which plays a leading role in Europe as a member of the G7. She also stated that the security of the Euro-Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific is inseparable, and that she hopes to work with Chancellor Merz to achieve a &#8220;Free and Open Indo-Pacific.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>2. Chancellor Merz offered his congratulations to Prime Minister Takaichi on her inauguration and stated that he would strengthen cooperation with Japan, as an important partner in Asia, in various fields.<\/p>\n<p>3. The two leaders concurred on strengthening cooperation in national and economic security between Japan and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>4.
