Supermarket giant Lidl has revealed a list of locations where it wants to open new stores, with 11 set for Bristol.<\/p>\n
The affordable supermarket announced plans to invest half a billion pounds into its expansion across the UK, opening more than 40 new stores, as reported by the Mirror.<\/a><\/p>\n In its most recent site requirements brochure, the brand had outlined hundreds of potential spots for new stores, including 11 in the Bristol area.<\/p>\n These new locations include high streets, retail parks and town centre sites.<\/p>\n Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, said: \u201cThis level of investment is a clear sign of our ambition.<\/p>\n “As we enter our fourth decade in Great Britain and hurtle towards a thousand stores, there are still so many parts of the country crying out for convenient access to a Lidl store.<\/p>\n “That\u2019s why we welcome the measures proposed in the Government\u2019s Planning and Infrastructure Bill \u2013 they recognise the urgent need to remove barriers to development and support the kind of growth we at Lidl are working towards.<\/p>\n \u201cOur latest site requirements brochure reinforces the scale of our ambition for the future.<\/p>\n “New Lidl stores mean new jobs, new opportunities for British suppliers, and continued investment into local economies.<\/p>\n “We\u2019re proud to be one of the fastest-growing supermarkets in the country, and with this investment, we\u2019re taking another big step in our journey.\u201d<\/p>\n The new stores are part of Lidl’s plan to have 1,100 UK stores by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n During the Christmas 2024 period, Lidl saw nearly two million more customers compared to the year before, with sales for the festive period rising 7 per cent year-on-year – exceeding \u00a31billion for the first time.<\/p>\n Everywhere Lidl wants to open a new store in Bristol:<\/p>\n Want the latest Bristol breaking news and top stories first?<\/strong> Click here to join our WhatsApp group<\/a> <\/strong>.
