Sheffield United<\/a> head coach Chris Wilder and Patrick Bamford<\/a> buried the hatchet in hilarious fashion as they celebrated wildly after beating loathed rivals Wednesday in the Steel City derby.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It took just over 10 minutes for the visitors to get on top at Hillsborough on Sunday afternoon thanks to an early goal by Tyrese Campbell – who bagged his brace with a second strike on the other side of half-time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A late offering from Tom Cannon in injury-time confirmed the win, and after the final whistle, the Owls were in no mood to make their way off the pitch as they celebrated with the travelling fans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Making their way over to the away stand, Wilder threw his arm around the shoulders of Bamford, who moved to the club from Leeds<\/a> over the summer, with the pair dancing to ironic chants of ‘Wilder is a w*****’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The United head coach is frequently mocked with the slogan, but in a jubilant mood had no problem with hearing it under different circumstances.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Bamford danced alongside him however, the striker might not have imagined himself doing so just a handful of months ago – when he mocked the manager with the same derogatory chant<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The former Leeds forward was filmed leading fans in the chant at the end of last season\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old had been filmed leading a chorus of the chant in the wake of Leeds’ promotion celebrations after the Yorkshire side booked their spot in this term’s Premier League cohort.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bamford had previously been called a ‘muppet’ by Wilder in 2019 after a meeting between the historic rivals – but proved this weekend there is no bad blood between the pair.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘When the video came out of the chant it was one of those where I had had a few drinks and the next day my mum was panicking saying “why have you started that?”‘ he told BBC Radio Sheffield.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I thought I should ring Chris and try and clear the air a bit and I remember waiting for him to answer I was thinking he was going to have a right go at me.<\/p>\n

‘He didn’t pick up but he rang me back 10 or 15 minutes later and it was refreshing because he was so nice and completely understood.<\/p>\n

‘A few years before we had had a little bit then so there was no hard feelings. He didn’t care.<\/p>\n

‘In football it’s rare you come across a manager who is as you see them. He’s straightforward and honest and for me that is super refreshing.’<\/p>\n

Bamford made his debut for the side against Wednesday after signing a short-term deal at the club until January.\u00a0<\/p>\n
