Why this practice is being hailed as the secret to healthy aging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It may sound silly, but physicians say <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/will-smith-men-in-black-fart-set-evacuation-b2622980.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:farting on the street;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">farting on the street<\/a> following a meal can help to improve long-term health.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cCrop dusting\u201d the patio, avenue or boardwalk can improve intestinal function, according to Dr. Tim Tiutan, an internal medicine physician at New York City\u2019s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWalking after meals does promote intestinal motility,\u201d he explained in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DG-rsDyOTGv\/?igsh=dzZrbXhjcDdzanp1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:an Instagram Reel;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">an Instagram Reel<\/a>, \u201cor movement of our intestines to get rid of gas and prevent constipation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tiutan said that walking can help to prevent blood sugar spikes, regulate the hormone insulin better and lower the risk of cancer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI totally support fart walks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So, why do \u201cfart walks\u201d help?<\/p>\n<p>It helps stimulate the bowels<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Flatulence is caused by the digestive process and the food that we eat. The condition can lead to serious complications if its not treated, including eye damage, kidney problems and heart disease, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yalemedicine.org\/conditions\/hyperglycemia-symptoms-causes-treatments\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Yale Medicine;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Yale Medicine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Damman noted that previous studies have suggested exercising immediately after meals can be \u201cdisproportionately beneficial to regulating blood sugar levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cSome studies have suggested even just five minutes of getting your heart rate up \u2014 going for a stroll around the neighborhood, doing some jumping jacks \u2014 is sufficient to blunt the post-meal spike in blood sugar levels,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Although, people should not exercise to levels of discomfort.<\/p>\n<p>It may help stave off diabetes<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">High blood sugar often affects people who have diabetes. It\u2019s important to fart walk within an hour of a meal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIf you wait too long, you\u2019ll miss the spike because it starts going up within minutes after you eat when the stomach starts to empty into the small intestine where all of the nutrients, including glucose, get absorbed into the blood,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>It could reduce your risk of cancer<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lastly, getting enough exercise lowers peoples\u2019 risk of multiple types of cancer.
