The Russian star quickly became one of the most well-known tennis players. She peaked at No. 8 in the singles rankings and No. 1 in doubles &#8211; but was forced to retire from professional tennis aged just 21 due to injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Kournikova also hit headlines off the court, as the two-time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/australian-open\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Australian Open<\/a> doubles champion started <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/sport\/tennis\/1889378\/Anna-Kournikova-Enrique-Iglesias-relationship-world-sexiest-woman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dating Enrique Iglesias<\/a> in 2001. Now, they live a private life in Miami with their three children &#8211; and are expecting their fourth child.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian tennis star and Spanish singer maintain a low profile and have never even confirmed whether they are married, although Kournikova has worn a diamond ring for years and uses a double-barrelled surname.<\/p>\n<p>As they prepare to become a family of six, a source close to the people told <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/pregnant-anna-kournikova-enrique-iglesias-are-excited-for-baby-no-4-exclusive-11852079\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">People<\/a>: \u201cThey are so excited, and also spending time getting their other three kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re ready for change and controlled chaos. Anna and Enrique are happiest when they are home with their family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kournikova gave fans a rare glimpse into her family life last month, sharing a photo of herself and her three kids dressed up for Halloween. The 44-year-old welcomed two twins, Lucy and Nicholas, with Iglesias in 2017. Their third child, Mary, was born in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In her first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/instagram\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a> post in more than a year, Kournikova donned a yellow duck costume while her daughters dressed up as pumpkins, and her son wore a Real Madrid shirt. Fellow retired tennis star Kim Clijsters commented: \u201cAdorable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former doubles No. 1 met Iglesias on the set of his music video for \u2018Escape\u2019 shortly before they started dating. By the time Kournikova played her final match in 2003, they were already together.<\/p>\n<p>The 44-year-old never officially announced her retirement, but did not play an official match after losing in the first round of an ITF tournament in Charlottesville in 2003.
