Gary Neville<\/a> has told Liverpool<\/a> fans to “forget” any rumours regarding Arne Slot<\/a> potentially being sacked following a poor run of form. The Reds started the season perfectly, winning their first five games \u2013 but Slot’s side now sit 11th in the table, 11 points off league leaders Arsenal<\/a>.<\/p>\n Although Liverpool did win their opening five, the performances still weren\u2019t ideal. Their 2-0 lead over Bournemouth was pegged back in just over 10 minutes before they went on to snatch victory, two injury-time winners saved the Reds against Newcastle<\/a> and Burnley, and the late 1-0 win against Arsenal was the club\u2019s only clean sheet in that run.<\/p>\n The important thing for Slot is that, despite the sketchy displays, his team were consistently getting three points – something they aren\u2019t doing now.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Wirtz, Bradley, Frimpong – Liverpool injury latest and potential return dates<\/a>READ MORE: Wayne Rooney points out major Virgil van Dijk concern after Liverpool suffer 3-0 loss<\/a><\/p>\n Liverpool have won just one of their last seven league games and have now suffered back-to-back 3-0 losses.<\/p>\n With the club far from where they want to be in the table, rumours have begun to swirl online regarding Slot\u2019s job security. But ex-Manchester United defender and Sky Sports pundit Neville believes the manager’s immediate future is not under threat yet.<\/p>\n He said on The Gary Neville Podcast<\/a>: \u201cThere\u2019s no way that Arne Slot should be in danger or losing his job. I\u2019ve heard murmurs; you go on social media and all that nonsense, forget that.<\/p>\n “Some Liverpool fans will say, \u2018Don\u2019t talk about my football club like that\u2019, but come on, let\u2019s have some sense here. This is a really good manager, who\u2019s a brilliant front man for the club as well in the way he handles himself. He\u2019s got real class.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, he\u2019s having a really bad time. I think he\u2019s got to somehow reverse back down the road quite quickly and do something different, intervene and sort out what he thinks might be some really difficult decisions staring him in the face, maybe give the players a little bit of help with the make-up of the teams he is picking.<\/p>\n \u201cI love the style of play, by the way. I love it when they go punch for punch, but when you\u2019re going punch for punch with teams and you\u2019re not coming out on top, you do have to change that. You do have to do something different. I think the players will be expecting that of him, never mind the media and the fans.<\/p>\n \u201cFor Arne Slot, I think it\u2019s a real challenging moment. He\u2019s going to come under pressure, people are going to start saying the fatal words of, \u2018Is he in trouble?\u2019 But let\u2019s not get too carried away with that. He\u2019s just signed \u00a3450million worth of players and he\u2019s got to try and settle them in.<\/p>\n \u201cThose players who have come into the club have got to step up and prove they can deliver, and the players who have been there a long time \u2014 the leaders, captains and experienced players \u2014 have to provide stability in the dressing room so the new players don\u2019t feel like they\u2019re taking all the pressure themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n Liverpool had 74% possession against Forest on Saturday. Combined with the Reds\u2019 21 shots to Forest\u2019s 15 and the fact they made over 400 more passes than Sean Dyche\u2019s side, it\u2019s no wonder Slot thought his team were the more dominant. But ultimately, the Liverpool boss didn\u2019t blame his players.<\/p>\n He said: “It is my responsibility. If we win or lose, it is my responsibility. But what I also see is the team \u2014 and, by the way, our fans as well \u2014 stay until the end, support the team until the end, and the players keep on trying until the end.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I also saw today, but it wasn\u2019t at City \u2014 and at City we are not the only team that struggles in the first half \u2014 and in every other game we\u2019ve played, we\u2019ve been the dominant team and we were able to create chances.\u201d<\/p>\n Slot will hope his team can shake off Saturday\u2019s defeat quickly as they dive into Champions League<\/a> action. Liverpool host PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday at Anfield<\/a>, and the Reds manager will be hoping his team can maintain their top-eight position.<\/p>\n In the Premier League<\/a>, Liverpool travel to the capital on Sunday to face West Ham.
