Asia-Pacific markets mostly rose Tuesday as investors waited to see the extent of the impact of U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs on corporate earnings and economic data expected from Wall Street this week.<\/p>\n
Market watchers were also closely monitoring developments surrounding trade deal negotiations between the U.S. and countries in the region.<\/p>\n
Mainland China’s\u00a0CSI 300<\/a>\u00a0index fell 0.34% at the open while Hong Kong’s\u00a0Hang Seng Index<\/a>\u00a0moved up 0.56%.<\/p>\n Over in South Korea, the\u00a0Kospi<\/a>\u00a0index increased by 0.57% while the small-cap Kosdaq added 0.77%.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0benchmark S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> advanced 0.58%.<\/p>\n Japanese markets were closed for a public holiday.<\/p>\n U.S.\u00a0futures were little changed<\/a>, after all three key benchmarks swung between gains and losses in Monday’s choppy session.<\/p>\n Overnight stateside<\/a>, the S&P 500<\/a>\u00a0inched slightly higher by 0.06% to close at 5,528.75. This is the broad-based\u00a0index’s fifth straight winning day.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the\u00a0Nasdaq Composite<\/a>\u00a0ticked 0.1% lower and ended at 17,366.13, while the\u00a0Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0rose 114.09 points, or 0.28%, to settle at 40,227.59.<\/p>\n Four of the so-called “Magnificent Seven” companies \u2014\u00a0Amazon<\/a>,\u00a0Apple<\/a>,\u00a0Meta Platforms<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Microsoft<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 came under pressure briefly during the session ahead of their quarterly reports. Apple and Meta Platforms ended the session modestly higher, each up about 0.4%.
